I’ll be interested to see how the CC release of Some Like It Hot compares to the Kino release.

Kinos Some Like It Hot 4k from 2022 is already an amazing transfer. Unsure how Criterion's could top it. I'd have much rather they'd gone after Sunset Boulevard. We're still sitting on the 2012 Bluray for that one.

To be fair, it's likely that Paramount is keeping this one for themselves and will release it for the anniversary this year.

But yeah plenty of Wilder I would have preferred to see on 4K UHD before a revisit of Some Like It Hot.

There could be another included if they add a Janus Contemporary title within the next couple of weeks.

Criterion took over the lease for this title and the other OOP Kino's. It is basically just to keep it in the marketplace. My guess is that Paramount will release Sunset Boulevard themselves this year. But Criterion could possibly release Ace in the Hole in 4k.

One observation - the last two months announcements have seen more included commentaries than I’ve seen in ages. I mean, new ones, not just archived ones brought out to fill out the package. Is this becoming a priority again?

I guess the 4K titles that MGM took from Kino and gave back to Criterion will be getting releases sooner rather than later... Unnecessary to have taken them back from Kino, but whatever. At least they'll stay in print from someone, and seem not to be taking up any of the precious 5 slots Criterion usually allots monthly, probably due to them being an easy slap-existing-4K-master-and-extras-onto-disc releases.

I'm afraid I don't know. All I remember is that it was to be released in October 2024

What a month. So glad I didn’t by an OOP copy of the artificial eye Chunking Express for £50 - or Kino’s Some Like It Hot with their ugly cases. And can’t wait to see Anora in 4k. Only wish the Claude Berris were separate cases… do they not know my shelves are chronological jeez.

Has Neon ever licensed a Dolby Vision grade to Criterion? Or even general? Their only DV films are Crimes and Oldboy. Seems they're comfortable with SDR.

Are you asking about Neon titles in general? Then yes, several, but only Three were UHDs (and they were SDR, I think):
Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Parasite
Memories of Murder
The Worst Person in the World
Triangle of Sadness UHD
Petite maman
Moonage Daydream UHD
All the Beauty and the Bloodshed
Saint Omer
Anatomy of a Fall
Perfect Days UHD

These 4K restorations of Wong Kar-wai's films are revisionist interpretations that fail to deliver the theatrical experience. For that reason, I will stick with the 2008 Blu-ray of CE.

In for Ugetsu, Chungking Express, Some Like it Hot, and Anora!!!!

Might pick up Basquiat but I’m torn on it not including the color version but I did really like the movie and the movie introduced me to true music of Tom Waits!

I'm down for Florette/Manon, even though I have the old blu - Criterion is perfect for this pair.
