Intelligent choice for #1. I'm not good at lists, but Seven Samurai would be my number 1. My favorite scene in Ikiru is
[Show spoiler] where the girl begins to get annoyed/ weirded out by the old man --- the emotions are extraordinary.

Oh I know, I’m also a solo Van Dyke Parks fan, so I already have that and others.

Being reminded of The Wedding Banquet, I decided to watch Pushing Hands. Ang Lee is an expert at probing into family dynamics and relationships, the balance of it all, while juggling multiple characters. I like that even the side characters, the ones we see briefly, carry so much weight. I wish Criterion would release both along with Eat Drink Man Woman.

I know he always dreamed of making a movie about the character he played on radio, THE SHADOW. I wonder if he ever wrote a script for it? Wow, would I love to read that!

(John Woo two-fer, Robocop, Grand Illusion, etc.) A wholly pleasant surprise on my part.
I always had this hope that Criterion would put it back out at some point, but honestly my hopes were kind of dashed once Bleecker Street got the rights (just because they've never worked with Criterion AFAIK). I'm glad to be wrong!

God, I would love for Grand Illusion to re-enter the collection too.

Yeah, here’s hoping! Every once in awhile, Criterion openly pines for it to re-enter the collection as Spine no. 1. (I think they mentioned they were still hoping to get it back someday when they briefly got it for streaming on Filmstruck.)

Wong Kar-wai's Blossoms Shanghai will premiere on the Criterion Channel!

Would love if it also means a disc release!

btw, they are not new 4k restorations. Hamlet and Henry V are the same as the ITV releases from 2009 (very rough). Richard III is the same as the Criterion.

That's disappointing, especially since their site prominently notes all three films are from 4K restorations. Any chance of screenshots?
