The Racket, starring Robert Mitchum and Lizabeth Scott, is a great flick that would fall in line with Criterion's recent releases of Warner film noir titles.

I doubt that this is a hint for that movie, though.

That's a great movie and choice too from the clue. However, I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet but I came up with Milos Forman's The Loves Of A BLonde.

Contrary to popular belief, Punch Drunk Love was not really a big stretch for Sandler. He was essentially playing the same man child character with an aggressive streak that he played in many of his 'stupid' comedies. What had changed was the setting, and he adapted well to his new surroundings, but I think people often exaggerate how different it was for him as an actual role.

I think Adam Sandler’s best work is in Noah Baumbach’s latest film The Meyerwitz Stories. It’s the best display of his emotional range.

It's probably not fair for me to judge a film that I haven't yet watched, but the presence of Steve Carell in a movie is the mother of all red flags.
Terrible movie, but Steve Carrell's performance just happens to be the best thing in it.

A Nous Amours would be very welcome if it turns out to be the film tied to the clue. Excellent movie. Pialat needs to be in the collection on blu-ray.

I want to elaborate on my above post.

I think that Steve Carell is a talented actor with an impressive emotional range on the screen.

He just happens to star in a lot of movies that do not impress me. For this reason, I consider his presence in a movie to be a red flag in itself. I feel the same way about 1990s-era Meg Ryan and a few others, in that they are talented actors who just happen to land in underwhelming films.

I think that Carell was downright brilliant in Little Miss Sunshine, but I do not care for that movie at all.

It's too bad when actors with genuine potential seem to be magnets for subpar films with subpar scripts.
(Yes, Chloe Grace Moretz, I'm talking about you as well. Get your agents to pick some better cinematic vehicles for you while you're still in your 20s.)

I am hoping it's this! It's in dire need of an upgrade.

Truth be told, when I first saw the clue, I first noticed the scoreboard and immediately thought of the word "love." Love in French is Amour, so I think it is a possibility.

This clue needs to be for Two Women.

Help me make that not a ridiculous stretch.

Does Sophia Loren play tennis?

Don't be ruffling your feathers about Meg. Turn your head all the way around and think how well Meg tied together Presidio.

Not only a natural beauty, a relaxed actress who could handle a heavy weight and a future heavy with a simple turn of her head. So she's got a lifetime pass in my book.

You start using Meg when talking about underwhelming films and maybe we should stop for second, gather some rocks, and then take some shots at James Bond productions.

The Studio Canal release of The Third Man from July of 2015 is from a 4k restoration. It looks beautiful, and it's region free.

Watched THE THIRD MAN on FilmStruck last night. I forgot how wonderful it is. Bummed I never owned the Criterion release. Here's to hoping a new restoration is in store.

It would be great if Flesh and Bone could get the Criterion treatment but I doubt that would ever happen. It seems mostly forgotten. Meg was great in that one.

Maybe I'm obsessing, but I noticed on my Criterion copy of Belle de Jour when the disc menu first comes up, there's a small white speck that's noticeable on her black dress, and it slowly fades away after a few seconds. I'm guessing my disc isn't slightly defective...

Flesh And Bone is great! Another performance of hers where she definitely steps out of her comfort zone is a film from 1995 called Restoration. Robert Downey Jr. and Sam Neill do ham it up but Meg's performance is IMO a most unusual one and I found it very interesting.

I think she's a lightweight actress and the only films I've seen her in are lightweight. That doesn't mean I don't like her, because she's got a fun, perky on-screen personality and she's been in a lot of enjoyable films (I think she was wonderful to watch in Joe Versus the Volcano) but I agree that she has never done anything that's truly great.
