Outstanding product! My only advice would be to try to purchase this at a B&N store, rather than ordering it. It is a DigiPack with a cardboard exterior. Getting one at a store will give you the opportunity to get one that is in near-perfect condition.

I saw the digipack..I was hoping CC would offer a more 'bare' BD version. Not bad with Amazon Prime

I'm with you SpiderBaby, was planning on picking up Tues at BN. Criterion's site still lists 11/13 as the release but on backorder. No change yet from BN, just 11/13. If it was delayed (again) I think criterion would have changed the "Available xx.xx.xxxx" date on the coming soon page like they did the first time. I wonder if it's just stock issues.

Kirk Douglas was in a comedy in 1963 entitled FOR LOVE OR MONEY, along with Mitzi Gaynor and Thelma Ritter.

Reading between the lines in this thread, I gather that Douglas may have been the major star who "came on too strong" with Natalie Wood? Books about her generally don't name the major Hollywood star.

From what I've read, "came on too strong" is a massive understatement.

Forgive me for dragging this issue up again- just picked up a copy of "8 1/2" and disc looks a little brown...anyway to tell without playing the movie in it's entirety whether disc is affected by the notorious "bronzing" issue (tiny code numbers around central hub of disc etc...)
Returned several Criterion blus to the company years ago and they replaced them all and completely without fuss- completely forgot about the issue until now...

you can skip through it and see if it reads all the way through. Alternatively if you have a BD drive installed in your computer there's free programs that can check disc integrity.

Thanks- I'll sit down in next couple of days and watch it in it's entirety. I still want to determine if it's part of a bad batch of discs which were from a certain manufacturing plant using the codes/digits on the inside circle of the disc.

It may play fine now but go bad in 6 months and since this is a film I'll watch over and over I don't want to risk it and would rather go to the hassle of sending to back to Criterion.
