What a massive waste of resources that was.

And, yes, I understand that other labels including major studios do dual-format releases too, and I'm not a fan of those either, but at least they accommodate those extra discs in packaging that is the same size as blu-ray only releases.
Only the digipaks for the the dual format releases were notice-ably larger. The plastic cases were more or less the same size. I can understand the perspective of DVD collectors since you are paying more compared to before, $30 vs $40. But for blu-ray collectors, the price doesn't change. And I love the freedom of having extra DVD discs to lend out or use as back-up if need be.

If it was fiscally feasible, perhaps the best solution for the dual format releases was to just lower the price to $30 from $40. For DVD collectors, the price remains the same and for blu-ray collectors they will be paying less than before.

Yes, and if this new type of disc was region-free, and no DRM locking, and was playable on any device, this would be a game-changer for the physical media industry (and for its survival too). Making things easier is the key, and people want convenience over everything else (which is why streaming is so popular and easy).

Price Tracking was disabled. Here's the official note:

"Per Amazon Associates Operating Agreement 2018-10-01 price tracking functionality is no longer allowed for Amazon products. You can export your old price trackings and you can copy your price trackings to your collection Wishlists."

Kino said they wouldn't be revisiting the Blu-rays. They're only looking at re-doing the color for the UHDs.

Unfortunately, they didn't give a reason. Although from what I've read in threads from other posters, part of the problem was that Kino took a simplistic "blanket approach" with the color for the entire movie instead of taking a more nuanced approach scene to scene. If I recall, people said it looked like Kino just simply dialed down the yellow indiscriminately for the whole movie. I also recall incorrect gamma was used.

(And they already tried "re-coloring" TGTBTU once, and made it look worse.)
If you mean doing brand new scans, Kino said that was out of the question. But if you mean starting from scratch with the existing 4K scans, Kino wasn't clear exactly what they'd be doing. Although I got the sense that they learned some lessons from the controversy and criticism of their TGTBTU Blu-ray and the praise for their FAFDM Blu.

Yes, by all means regale us with yet another post about your private, personally regraded copies of THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UGLY. It’s been at least a few minutes since you last shared with us all the glorious details about it. Perhaps if you ask nicely your dream can come true and the mods will make it a sticky.

Mja345 mentioned Stranger than Paradise a few days ago, it took me a second watch but now I am definitely on its wavelength. For a movie where not a lot happens, it has very memorable characters and scenes. And every frame is very strikingly composed.

I was certain that I'd agree with that before I even played it. I wish it had gone longer, but he might have cleaned them out.

Awesome. I like how he still seems to have a passion for films, despite his stature in film.

Could we see Criterion releasing new Blu-rays of Hard Boiled & The Killer at some point in the future?

As I posted here a couple of weeks ago, The Killer could be possible since it's with Fortune Star and they seem to have a deal with one another. Hard Boiled however is with another company, so getting the rights to it might be a little more difficult.
