All Wong’s films are slated to receive brand-new 4K restorations and will be re-released as part of a touring package sometime in 2020. Wong’s own studio, Jet Tone Films, is behind the restorations (Janus/Criterion will have US rights), and he’s been taking a few titles along in his appearances here in Hawaii, as well as in New York and France. (The Hawaii festival, though, was blessed with a rare 35mm print for their showing of In the Mood For Love. The projection team had to find and assemble an entire 35mm projector for the screening, as the main venue no longer had one. Staffers imagined, in fact, that it could be the very last 35mm film screening ever in Honolulu).

A box set in 2020 or 2021 would be more likely.

The final print is the version that's always been out there. The only things that wasn't "finished" were sound (foley work and actor ADR) and the complete score. Cate Blanchett's ADR was done after Kubrick's death.

I bought and watched Gimme Shelter last night.

Of course the music is great and the transfer very nice imo.

But it’s disappointing to not have a legitimate special features package included. I would love to talk to Mulvaney and Co. and ask them why some releases have remarkably in depth special features, while others have virtually none at all.

...i’m sure there are a variety of reasons.

Does anyone think that another Cecil B. DeMille film could be added in the collection at some point. If I'm correct, The King of Kings is the only one, and it's in a bulky DVD case.
