But from what the guys on MLBN said this draft isn't loaded with hitters which means pitchers will fall which could be great for the contenders who are far down in the draft *cough cough yankees*

From what I've read this year's draft has a few real stars but little depth. Suposedly 2011 is expected to be a much more talented draft.

Pirates take high school right handed pitcher second overall, Jameson Taillon. Taillon has a 99 MPH fastball, and threw a 19 strikeout no hitter in high school. Could be the Pirates ace in 2-3 years. Brad Lincoln, the Pirates best pitching prospect is making his debut on Wednesday, I'm pumped for that.

Wow looked him up and he's 6'7" and only 18 years old. At that age he could even grown another inch or two.

Most predicted the Pirates to take Manny Machado (SS) from Brito HS in Miami who draws comparisons to A-Rod. Sounds like they drafted a fantastic pitching prospect in any case.

I remember watching an E60 on Harper. The kid has a beastly swing! He apparently hit the longest Tropicana Field home run at age 16, albeit with an aluminum bat, but very impressive nonetheless.

Ahh everyone knows the Pirates need pitching. As much as I like Machado, we have a great SS prospect in Chase d'Arnaud. Taillon is as close to Strasburg as you are going to get in the draft this year, hopefully Taillon turns out to be a star.

I don't know much about the 3 players the Rays selected in today's draft, so I got some research to do! Josh Sale at #17, Justin O'Conner at #31 and Drew Vettleson at #42!

BTW, the Rays have the #1 farm, according to Baseball America!

In baseball you aren't allowed to trade draft picks, and aren't allowed to trade a player until a year after he's drafted. A lot of people think this hurts small market clubs because they'll pass on guys that are thought to be too expensive, rather than trading the pick to a team willing to pay and getting something in return.

Odd pick by the Cubs, drafting Hayden Simpson, a pitcher from Division II Southern Arkansas. Analysts say he only has 2 pitches, and both are average. Most analysts had him as a 4th-5th round pick. I'm guessing the Cubs wanted someone they could sign cheap because I don't know how you justify that pick.

I'm guessing Clemson is going to need a new starting quarterback this fall. Kyle Parker, who started for them last year, was drafted by the Rockies at number 26. It's unlikely that he's going to turn down the money and return to football.

I think they can, and they should. The only thing that scares me is the pitching matchup in the third game. It seems like Burnett either gets blown up for 6+ runs, or is dominant and allows 1 or less. Not many games in between that. Couple that with him going up against Guthrie, who has allowed 2 ER or less in 4 of his last 5 starts, and you have every reason you need to be worried about that game. The good news is that two of those dominant games were against the Orioles, which he did not allow an earned run in either start.

They really need to at least take 2 out of 3 to keep themselves in a good position in the AL East. Boston is playing Cleveland right now, so they should be able to lay the smack down. The Rays are playing the Blue Jays, so it's either the first place Rays improving their record, or the Blue Jays (2.5 behind NY) staying right in contention.

Bryce Harper is the real deal. He is probably the best position player coming out of high school since Josh Hamilton in 1999, but most scouts are comparing him to can't miss draftees like Griffey, Jr. and A-Rod. It would not surprise me to see him playing in the majors at 19.

Heard on the radio some bets that you can make on Strasburg. His over/under for MLB wins this season is 7 1/2. The over/under for pitches tonight is 90 1/2.

This is said to be the biggest game in Nationals history, with Strasburg's debut game being compared to other debuts like Lebron James, Sidney Crosby, and Tiger Woods.

Will Strasburg be as good as advertised, or can the Pirates spoil his big day?

Absolutely. He's gaining the confidence and command he had in 2009, and I think we will see a good year out of Javy.

Sounds like the Dodgers cheap ways is affecting their drafting. They drafted pitcher Zach Lee, whose price is so high that he is thought to be unsignable. He is committed to LSU to play football and baseball and the only way he would choose to go pro is for a big contract. The thinking is the Dodgers intentionally drafted a player they know they won't sign so they can get a compensatory pick next year when the Dodgers should have more money and the owner's divorce should be final.
