And I don't think A-Rod has ever gone around suing and trying to destroy the reputation of everyone who even hints he was a doper. That's the thing that always bugged me about Lance the most. A-Rod is still a dope though.

Schilling: PED path raised in 2008

Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling said on ESPN Radio on Wednesday that in 2008 "former members of the organization" told him performance-enhancing drugs were an option to help him get healthy and extend his career.

Schilling, who had signed a one-year contract with Boston in 2008 but did not pitch that season due to a shoulder injury, would not identify who was involved in the conversation, or whether it was a player, coach or staff member.

"At the end of my career, in 2008 when I had gotten hurt, there was a conversation that I was involved in, in which it was brought to my attention that this is a potential path I might want to pursue," Schilling, who is currently an ESPN analyst, told ESPN Radio's Colin Cowherd.

Schilling said the topic came up in a clubhouse conversation that could be overheard by several teammates.

"It was an incredibly uncomfortable conversation," he added. "Because it came up in the midst of a group of people. The other people weren't in the conversation but they could clearly hear the conversation. And it was suggested to me that at my age and in my situation, why not? What did I have to lose? Because if I wasn't going to get healthy, it didn't matter. And if I did get healthy, great."It caught me off guard, to say the least," he added. "That was an awkward situation."

Sergio Romo, Giants settle on deal

SAN FRANCISCO -- Reliever Sergio Romo and the San Francisco Giants have agreed to a $9 million, two-year contract, avoiding salary arbitration.

The deal announced Wednesday means the Giants have settled all of their potential arbitration cases before hearings.

Romo, who made $1,575,000 last season, had asked for $4.5 million in 2013 with the Giants offering $2,675,000. Romo will be eligible to be a free agent after the 2014 season.

Romo went 4-2 with 14 saves and a 1.79 ERA last season. He was the team's primary closer in the postseason, when he had one win, four saves and a 0.84 ERA in 10 appearances. He struck out Miguel Cabrera to finish San Francisco's sweep of Detroit in the World Series that gave the Giants their second championship in three seasons.

Things will be interesting for us this year. On paper, everything looks decent. The big factor will be how Aroldis Chapman does as a starter(at least that's the plan for now).
