The game is tied at 5 in the bottom of the 6th
Don't think I get that one televised. Did Washington draw another big crowd or it it back to being a ghost town at that ballpark?

And Niemann's stats are almost as good at 6-0 with a 2.48 ERA. But ya, Price probably has a slight edge at the moment over guys like Buchholz, Pettitte, Niemann and Hughes.

Currently 7 of the 8 pitchers with the lowest ERA in the AL are in the AL East.

If there is a closer worthy of Cy Young consideration it might actually be Soriano. He's 15 for 15 in saves with a 1.59 ERA.

Stephen Strasburg to appear on "Late Show with David Letterman"

One day later, it has become clear Stephen Strasburg's debut has only ratcheted the avalanche of hype surrounding the Nationals' rookie right-hander.

Last night, the Hall of Fame called the Nationals requesting an artifact from Strasburg's debut. Today, the Cleveland Indians sold 3,000 seats for Strasburg's start Sunday at Progressive Field. And to top it off tomorrow, Strasburg will appear on "Late Show with David Letterman" and read the the Top Ten List.

Also appearing on Letterman tomorrow: Harry Connick Jr., actor Jaden Smith and musical act Peter Wolf.

.

Funny, I would have thought that Letterman would have been a Yankees fan.

I had the O's/Yanks game on in the background while doing some work on my computer, and I knew the Yankees were up 3-2.

I heard some cheering and thought "oh great, Yankees blew the lead" so I turn to look at the TV, to see that Sabathia struck someone out to end the inning.

Skip ahead 15-20 minutes, and the same thing happens. I have my back to the TV and hear some cheering, thinking the O's tied up the game.

Nope, Yankees scored another run.

I almost feel bad for the O's that a large chunk of their paltry attendance doesn't even want them to win.

No excuse for that at all. The Orioles are not some small market team. They have a great history, a beautiful first-rate ballpark and good fan base. There is no excuse for that team sucking for so long. Seems like in thir case it's just bad ownership/management.

Attendance for today's Washington-Pittsburgh game was 18,876. So much for any possible boost in attendance for games Strasburg doesn't pitch in.

Crappy debut for Brad Lincoln in that game for Pittsburgh. He gave up 5 ER in 6 innings.

So maybe they can get another one tomorrow and get their FIRST sweep of the season also. Kinda hard to believe that they do not have one yet despite being only 2 games under .500.

This guy Tyler Clippard is a heck of a middle-reliever. Capps has also done well as their closer. Funny considering how aweful he was last year with Pittsburgh.

One thing Washington needs to improve on is their MLB high 53 errors. No other team is even close to that bad. They had another 2 errors today.

Yea, Clippard has been stellar in his role so far. BTW, we got him from the Yankees in a trade about 3 years ago.

And get a load of this pic of Strasburg returning from his warm-up bullpen pitches, before yesterdays game.

You really can't say how a guys debut was without seeing the game. In one inning, McCutchen misplayed a ball of the wall, Milledge dropped a catch in the outfield, and Cedeno allowed a hit from the pitcher when the ball rolled under his glove. None of these plays were scored an error. This allowed for a 3 run fourth inning, an inning in which no runs probably should have been scored. A pretty good outing for Lincoln in his debut, not every pitcher strikes out 14 in their first start.

Dodgers sweep the Cards at home for the first time in 22 years! Pitching holds Pujols to 1 for 12.

Another great win for my Rays, a 10-1 victory over the Jays! It looks like the Rays' bats are back, 28 runs in the last 3 games! The Price was right again, going 6IP and only gave up 1ER! Going for the sweep tonight!

Price has a better record, ERA and Ks compared to Niemann...

Price: 9-2 / 2.23ERA / 57K / 1CG / 1SHO / 80.2IP / 32BB
Niemann: 6-0 / 2.48ERA / 51K / 1CG / 1SHO / 80IP / 22BB

I think Evan Longoria is going to end up with the AL MVP, if the Rays finish ahead of the Yankees and win close to 100 games.

Sucks for Halladay. He's pitching another gem and getting zero run support. 8 innings, 6 hits, 1 run and the Phillies trail 1-0 going into the 9th. Josh Johnson is even more unhittable tonight for Florida - 7 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs.

Wade David is finally throwing a good game, but can't get any run support tonight, even though the Rays' have scored 19 runs in the last 2 games! Go figure!

How does it suck for Halladay? Johnson is throwing a masterpiece! 17 straight, set down by JJ going into the 9th! This game is on MLB Network and FSN FL!

During the Yankees' off day on Monday, I decided to watch Sugar. I've already seen the movie before, but now that we're in the middle of baseball season, it felt like a timely thing to watch.

Has anyone else seen it?

For those who haven't, I'd recommend checking it out. It may not be a masterpiece of a movie, but it shows a side to baseball (it's from the perspective of a Dominican player, trying to make it to the big leagues) that no other movie has.

Just saying it sucks for Halladay that he's pitching so well and getting zero run support from a perfectly capable offense. The Phillies have been extremely inconsistant offensively this year.

But ya, John Johnson deserves just as much credit. He's about to improve to 7-2 with a 1.91 ERA.

Very strange that I've never heard of it. I typically see any baseball movie that comes out. Even the really bad ones. I will definately try to check this one out.
