No i stick with my teams through the good times and bad times, thats what makes winning so good IMO, Im a Yankee fan because I grew up in Puerto Rico and my family had the YES network and we always watched the yankees so therefor I was a Yankees fan, In puerto rico the other sports aren't as famous so I really didnt have a favorite so now that i live in Boston I root for the celts and pats!! Trust me I get it from everyone here in Boston about how much the Yankees suck

There's three guys here at work (middle of Mass.) who are hardcore Yankee fans. The rest of us love giving 'em hell, haha!

I recently got FIOS, and after a few days of channel-surfing, I discovered this YES Network you referred to. Let me just say, it is the first time I ever wanted to call my TV provider and demand that they REMOVE a channel, lol!

That's understandable.

It's when a person has a favorite team from a totally different city in each sport and they all happen to win alot of championships is where I start to roll my eyes.

And yes gotta stick with your team through the thick and thin! Go Jays! We will always have 1992 and 1993 lol

As a huge Yankees fan, I understand the need to hate Boston, but I can still appreciate Red Sox history as part of baseball history.

I have no qualms about saying Fenway Park is one of the greatest stadiums in baseball. I wouldn't pay extra for NESN, but if it was included, I wouldn't mind watching it. Do they play any classic games on there? YES has their whole set of Yankees Classics, which are great pieces of baseball history (the only problem is you know who will win every game, even if you haven't seen it before).

Carlos Zambrano threw a temper tantrum after a runner was called safe at home and got ejected. I'm listening to it on the radio but it sounds like he was bumping the ump and will likely get suspended.

Yep NESN sure does do that, sometimes it'll be a game from last season or three years ago, and then sometimes some real classics. They also cover Bruins/Celts as well. To be honest, I haven't watched any of YES Network, and I can't deny the rich history of the Yanks!

Every time I see Zambrano I think man, that guy is pissed! Firey guy. Man, if he did the ump bump, he'll have to sit what, 5 games at least? 6?

Even though he never bumped an ump, my anti-Red Sox bias wanted Papelbon to get ejected the other day when he ran out of the dugout arguing about a call at second base, when Boston was batting. I hate that guy.

Like most TV broadcasts, the Yankees have started doing a poll question each game, where they ask people to text in their vote. Usually it's pretty stupid, but today's was somewhat intriguing. Because they're playing in Texas, they've been talking a lot about Nolan Ryan during games (and keep showing him, since he's the team president and sits in the 2nd row for just about every game).

So today's poll was "Which of Nolan Ryan's stats is the most impressive", and the choices were

A. 324 career wins
B. 7 no-hitters
C. 5,714 strikeouts
D. played for 27 seasons

and some fifth choice, which I don't remember (it might have been his career hits per 9 innings, which is the lowest ever).

I feel like I can rule out A, because he also ranks 3rd all-time for most losses. That's just something that comes with pitching for 27 years. Same thing for C. As crazy as it is that nobody else even has 5,000 K's, it seems like if people could last 27 years, they could get there too.

So I sort of work backward to two answers answer, including one that was probably my first choice all along. Pitching a no-hitter is crazy. Pitching two is insane. Pitching seven.... I don't even know how to comprehend it. Playing for 27 years is also a record, and is hard to imagine, but even if someone played 37 years, there's a slim chance he'd throw 7 no-hitters.

Some other interesting stats about Nolan Ryan, that he probably doesn't want people to remember:

-3rd most losses of all-time (most in the modern era)
-most wild pitches
-most hit batters
-most walks

Although all of those can be attributed to playing for 27 years, and therefore don't seem quite as bad as they originally sound.

LOL oh it's getting good now! 8-3 lead gone, then a 10-8 lead gone.. I can't find an emoiticon for going coo-coo lol

I will always stand by my boys but holy &($&($(&$)(#*#!__!#.... this is getting frustrating!

I feel bad for Halladay, but he doesn't seem to want to play anywhere else. I'd be cursing up a storm at my bullpen if they blew a 9 run lead on me.

yep on top of that they don't like to pay people either and its a real problem. I really don't buy into the announcers saying they have like 3-5 up and coming pitchers I think they'd be lucky if one turned out to be a starter ... if all 3-5 became great then our scouts and gm would vault to the top of the mlb... It's such a shame if these kids talents go to waste because of poor management.

+ taking good quality players to arbitration markakis, roberts exc. eventually someones going to say fine if thats how you treat me I wont resign.

He'll be cursing I am sure. He's a very scary guy when he's mad, you can sometimes feel his anger over the TV airwaves haha. When he gives up a hit or makes a mistake the guy goes ballistic on the mound.

But also, the bullpen is USUALLY our strong point so games being blown for Halladay are very rare.

I got in after the game had ended last night but reading the recaps now, wow, this is getting ugly. Dan O'Toole (TSN anchor) tweeted last night about how when will the day come where Doc just leaves the clubhouse and never comes back? Unlike VC he's been consistently good and hasn't opened up in the media about any unhappiness, if he wants to leave (for someone other than the Sox or Yankees) he should be allowed to, this is brutal.
