I can't agree with that, even though I know it'll sound like a Sox fan defending Ortiz. The game is not managed properly. You cannot try to please every player by getting them in there and also play to win. They can't have it both ways. In any other game this season, a pinch runner would have taken over in that situation. I guess Yankee fans will blame David and Sox fans will blame Hughes, but really the All-Star game is not managed very well and the blame should lie with Bud Selig and the managers.

For the managers, it's a no-win situation in a close game. The manager has to try to get all of his players playing time, but at the same time they also have to try and keep a stocked bench/bullpen in case the game goes into extra innings.

Maybe they should change it to where position players can re-enter the game under certain circumstances. Definitely not a good idea for pitchers, though.

I swear Manny Ramirez is ****ing worthless. The guy goes on the DL twice this year with hamstring problems. Just gets reinstated yesterday and has to be taken out of the game again in the first inning today.

NL East: The Phillies are the team that is going to contest the Braves for the division, not the Mets. This division race is pretty important, too, because the NL wild card is gonna come out of the Central/West.

AL Central: The Twins beat the White Sox on each of the last three days and now three teams (incl. Detroit) are all within 1.5 games of the division lead.
