They might go with a 6 man rotation this go around (but nothing is for certain) so Colon and Garcia can get some rest. Honestly, I've been saying that Hughes should be moved to the pen even before he returned from the DL.

but with Hughes...our bullpen was pretty stacked at the start of the season... then we lost Marte, Feliciano and Soriano...but now he should definitely go there |

Neither were there is regards to Jeff Bagwell. Yet Bagwell didn't even come close to making the HOF first ballot when his number/contributions clearly were first ballot numbers. It was clear the HOF voters kept him out because they assume he did use. Much like HOF voters fans also come to their own conclusions about which players are using. I'm not saying that's right or wrong, it's just the way it is. Based on Thome's physique and power numbers it seems highly unlikely he didn't use IMO.

It's more a combination of him never being anywhere near one of the most popular guy (through no fault of his own) and the fact he's basically been chipping away at it as a platoon/bench player.
He's also going to be the fifth player of his generation to hit 600 (3/4 proven roid users) so it's probably lost its luster there as well. Should be an easy Hall choice. He was steady and a career 147ops+ is damn impressive as is the .404 career obp. Last edited by Hatter; 08-02-2011 at 02:19 AM. |

Bagwell was practically a known juicer. One of his best friends was Ken Caminiti, who won an MVP on steroids and publicly admitted it before his death. It is almost 100% sure that Bagwell was on something during the height of his career. Thome hasn't lost a lick of power after testing has been implemented, even making no allowances for his advanced age now. The only clean members of the 600 club from this generation will be Griffey and Thome.

The biggest problem I have is HOF voters excluding guys who obviously never used but deserve to make it. The best example of this is Fred McGriff. Just by looking at the guy it's obvious he never used. I still don't get why the guy with cannot break 22% in the HOF vote despite having 493 HR, 1550 RBI's. Sadly a lot of it probably has to do with him coming up 7 HR shy of 500. |

Good god ya just can't make this shit up if you tried. RIP. This is a really young guy too. I swear whenever you think the Dodgers season can't get any more bizarre it does.

Or they are simply playing up to their talent level now. Against the better teams their pitching does not stand much of a chance. I doubt if they finish much better than .500 on the year.

Yeah I saw that story, don't know what to think of it. And yes our season keeps spinning down the crapper. Our pathetic Giant loving GM traded away one of our better OF prospects for 3 fringe players. Not to mention losing our rookie starter (who was throwing filthy stuff) for the year to elbow injury. The past couple days have sucked royally.
