Braves pick up Michael Bourn from the Astros

That was a problem during the 80's. The boss kept on trading young prospects away and those trades never worked out. The best thing that happened to the team was when he was "permabanned" from baseball (which turned into a brief suspension). That let people like Gene "Stick" Michael and Buck Showalter develop the farm system which played a huge role in the last dynasty (which has been baseball's last dynasty). When he came back, he mellowed out and let his GM do his job (but he did get the final say though). Also, the ball doesn't travel nowhere near as it did back then due to the fact they humidify the baseballs there (so they don't carry as far). Also, the AL east is the toughest division in baseball.

Ok, here's what happened to why Jimenez didn't become a Yankee. The team wanted a physical of him (specifically a MRI of his shoulder) and the Rockies refused. The talks broke off and the rest as they say is history. The Indians sent 5 prospects (including a player to be named later) to the Rockies. As far as the Yankees rotation go, it's possible they'll be using a 6 man rotation (so colon and Garcia can get rest). Nothing official though (they were rumors of them trying this last year but didn't go that route).

Very nice addition. They needed that after San Francisco and Philly added bats.

Based on position I'd agree with that. Pence plays RF, same position as Heyward. Bourn plays CF, a position Atlanta was extremely lacking. Until Bourn we were basically CF by committee with no solid player at that position.

I think this was one of the better pickups, not only is Bourn a .300 hitter, but adds tons of speed on the base pads, he leads the League in stolen bases with 39

I guess they hope our current players will "magically" get better during the second half of the season.

The Yankees let the deadline without doing any deals either. There wasn't really much that was out there to Mach our needs. I have a feeling they'll do something before the wavier trading deadline (Aug 31).

AJ is actually probably our #4 at this point.... Colon is our #2...then Sanchez at #3...

wish Hughes would come around but seems like its a lost season for him

plus, Soriano just came off the disabled list for a bullpen...so thats a nice addition we havent had basically all season if he can return to fom

I want Nova to stay in the rotation. I like watching him pitch.
