I was at the Blue Jays game tonight. After Detroit's big hitters clobbered back-to-back homers in the first, I feared it was going to be a l-o-n-g night. But Toronto played a very good nine innings, and got a well deserved win.

White Sox acquired LHP Francisco Liriano from the Twins for INF Eduardo Escobar and LHP Pedro Hernandez.
Yet another aggressive but well-conceived move by White Sox general manager Kenny Williams. Liriano has struggled to the tune of a 5.31 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 100 innings this season, but he's displayed flashes of dominance and could certainly get hot down the stretch for the American League Central-leading Pale Hose.

As for the talent department... i'd say the Orioles are the weakest team in the division as far as talent goes....they've been playing way over their heads all year. IMO..Adam Jones, Weiters, and Johnson are the core of their talent and their bullpen is the only reason they're still in the race.

Yeah but please continue to underestimate the Jays because come 2014 we'll be challenging you guys for the division lead...and we'll be doing so with a 1/3 of what your payroll is. Got Em!!

The injury doesn't affect us like you think. If this was 07, it would be a different story. I still don't understand why Hank (Steinbrenner) would change his mind and give Al that ridiculous contract even though he has a amazing 07 season (to A-Rod's defense, if it wasn't for him, we probably wouldn't win it all in 09). Had Hal been in charge at that time, A-Rod wouldn't have been back (they would have let him walk) and we would have traded for Miguel Cabrera from the Marlins (this was back in the 07 offs season and we had the prospects to do it because the Johan Santana trade talk fell apart). I'm glad that Hank's brother Hal is running things. Also, to the Blue Jay fans on here who think that I'm undervaluing their farm system got me wrong. The AL east is not call the best/toughest division in MLB for nothing. With that said, for someone to say that in a certain year, that they are going to dominate the AL east is out of their mind (and they must really be off their rocker to think that the Yankees will sit sitting on their hands (or the Red Sox).

Also, the Rays are not a pushover either and ) O's have come along nicely this year (some people think that they are playing over their heads, but Buck is a very smart baseball man and I knew he would turn things around in Baltimore). I actually hope Toronto gets better. I still remember the days when SkyDome (yeah, I know it's called Roger's center but the name is stupid) would be jam packed all the time. But, I'm not sure people in Toronto care anymore about the Jays (which is sad because the Jays and Mariners share something with me, which is that all three of us came in to being back in 1977).

Vogelsong had won both his previous starts against Kershaw...so the tables were bound to turn. I think the Dodgers gained momentum when they acquired Hanley and the Giants lost some when Panda went down.

If the Braves had the DH, Chipper could play one or two more years very easily. He's still an embarrassment in the field, but he's figured out how to compensate for a slowing bat from the left side.
