Reading that about Derek Jeter doesn't surprise me. This is a guy who gives his one night stands a personal gift bag with autographed stuff after banging them. Supposedly he hooked up with the same woman a second time and accidentally gave her another gift basket. I swear if A-Rod did something like that everyone would be calling him the biggest tool ever.

Yeah, I don't have much beyond that box. I have a wrestling magazine with about 5 guys, a shirt with another 10 or so, a Mark Gubicza statue, some drumsticks and set lists, a baseball and a chair. Then a few things back home (like a Hank Aaron ornament and my Matt Ryan jersey my parent's are getting framed when my dad gets his Gretzgy framed).

The nicest guys I think I've ever met are Dale Murphy, Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken Jr. Ripken would stay after games and sign for hours.

I read the other day that former Florida governor Jeb Bush put an investor group together and made what was described as a large offer for the Marlins but Jeffrey Loria said he wasn't selling the team. From the sounds of it if Loria sells the team it will be after 2014 because under the terms of his stadium agreement if he sells the team in 2013 he'd have to give 7.5% of the proceeds with the city/county and in 2014 he'd have to give 5% but starting in 2015 he would get to keep all the proceeds.

Personally I wish he wouldn't even be considered a Hall of Famer, because his insistence on playing shortstop has hurt the Yankees.

When the ARod trade occurred, ARod was a far better defensive shortstop. The team would have been significantly better off if Jeter was the guy to move to 3rd instead of ARod, but his pride wouldn't let him.

*EDIT* Dare I say it...Jeter is kind of the Tim Tebow of baseball. Has skills, but his pride makes him play a position he's somewhat ill-suited to playing.

Did anyone even know the world baseball classic was coming up? I didn't even know that still existed until today. Supposedly almost no top players want to participate in it. One American player who has no connections to Mexico wants to play in it for team Mexico because his wife is Mexican.

Yeah, it's so random the dates. I bought White Sox tickets like 2.5 weeks ago. Royals are this Saturday. Not sure when Cubs are. Braves released some games on Feb 4, but the rest on Feb 25.

I knew because of various people dropping out (like Kris Medlan).

Verlander said no to pitching in it as well

Also looks like Cards have lost Carpenter

Chris Carpenter (shoulder, neck) said during a press conference Monday that has not ruled out pitching at some point in 2013.

"We'll just have to see what happens through time," Carpenter said. "I have to make sure... my arm is healthy." Carpenter continues to work out, but he's not throwing and made it clear that there's no way he could do so as he currently feels. The veteran right-hander will get checked out by the Cardinals' team doctor once the club returns to St. Louis before determining the next step. He said he will not undergo another surgery. While the door isn't closed for Carpenter to pitch in 2013, it's not a likely proposition.

Why risk injury the WBC is nothing its not the Olympics I can see why these guys say no

Looks like Tigers individual game tickets go on sale March 2nd at 10am Ticket prices have gone up considerably this year all seas see at least a 5 dollar increase, bleacher seats go from 5 to 12 dollars and outfield seats from 6 to 23 dollars.

And MLB players already play 162 regular season games plus spring training, preseason and possibly postseason games. It's more than any other spoet by a mile.

Check out the roster for Team USA at the WBC. The talent level on that team might not even even make the postseason if it were an MLB team. some of the better players listed on that website have recently withdrawn too, such as Medlen.

I remember at the prior WBC competitions the Dominican Republic teams were loaded with talent. This year not so much.

I'll bet just like the first two WBC tournaments Japan wins again, or maybe Cuba. They seem to take it more seriously than everyone else and typically get their best players to play.
