I laughed at that part as well, but it wasn't my favorite scene. One of the funniest scenes for me was when
[Show spoiler]Deadpool was punching & kicking Colossus, hobbling himself in the process.

I really liked her character and I thought the love story angle was one of the driving forces of the film. She's better written than most superhero love interests.

The scene with
[Show spoiler]the baby hand caressing the old blind lady's chin was hysterical and my favorite LOL moment in the film.
The audience I saw it with was loosing their sh*t

Yes, I loved that too! I also really liked
[Show spoiler]when the crew was in the taxi, and the driver had his "nemesis" in the trunk, and Deadpool kept whispering "kill him" and stuff under his breath.

I loved it, a solid 4 stars from me.

I'm finding a lot of my favorite action films lately have been very simple. John Wick, Mad Max, and now this, have all been very streamlined and straightforward, which I like, much less chance of going off course during the film like so many of Marvel's films have done lately.

Wow... I had a completely opposite reaction to the character. And it has nothing to do with her looks because, although she is attractive, the actress really is not in that "I'd watch her in anything because she is hot" category. I found that they did a great job of merging the elements of both "trust" and "compatibility" of a relationship with her strength of character and his. Some relationship don't need "lovey-dovey" to be strong. In this case, their kind of love for one another manifests itself in a very physically passionate way. They portrayed it perfectly in my opinion and it was a strong part of why I was invested in Wade Wilson's entire situation.

The character is problematic? Her character is a big part of Wade Wilson's entire transformation, and far better than many love interests in superhero films. Additionally, she has certainly proven herself as an actress and performs excellently in all facets of her Deadpool role.

I don't think I would have been into this movie as much as I was without all the backstory. It fleshed him out a bit and gave me a reason to invest in him and root for him to succeed. Otherwise, he's just a smartarse in a costume. But somehow the backstory made him funnier for me. They did a great job with this movie.

Loved all the funny moments others have mentioned so far.

[Show spoiler]I liked when T.J. Miller was being threatened by Gina Carano, and all the mercenaries in the bar turn their guns on her. And afterwards, after the baddies leave, Miller goes, "thanks for having my back, guys."

Otherwise, Ryan Reynolds fits the Deadpool character perfectly (needs to work on his humor for next time), and he and his love interest's chemistry was believable. Needed more of Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead because they were the standout characters for me. Gina Carano's
[Show spoiler]fight with Colossus
was badass and I like that entire sequence. Love me some superhero movies....but this was not one of the great ones, let alone the good ones. Almost as disappointing as Origins: Wolverine.

2/5
I had a similar problem with the humour. I'd say 50%, maybe 60% of the jokes landed. Because there were so many, a lot just fell flat which hurt the film.

I want to give this another shot, but not until it comes out on blu ray. Maybe I'll like it a bit more the second time around. The only time I really laughed was the deadpool/colossus scene; that was admittedly damn funny. I loved the violence but then a bad joke would be slapped on top of it and I'd think, "aw... I was ready to like this scene."

I do wonder how my theatre experience affected me though. I have no issues with parents bringing children as long as they're behaved. However, a brother/father (idk) brought a young child and the child ended up sitting right next to me. He was mostly silent but did ask a couple questions, especially when
[Show spoiler]the old deadpool action figure popped up
and I'm just thinking "SHUT UP." He didn't talk enough to make me say something but it was enough to get on my nerves. I got the sense he was having a good time so I didn't want to be the a-hole in this scenario.

My audience reactions were pretty mixed. There were some hard laughs, some chuckles, and a decent amount of silence, all mixed and scattered through the theatre.

That's literally her only purpose. You can barely even call her a character because her only character trait is "pretty damsel in distress". She's no different than any other generic love interest. In a movie that is all about taking the piss out of the superhero genre, the fact that it falls into so many of the same traps every other superhero film does, that's pretty disappointing

the movie was about him getting back to her and saving her.

how could she be anything but a "damsel in distress" once the story gets to that point??

That's why I think it's a completely bland film. It's the same shit that's been done a million times, and not done particularly well.

brotha, we just gonna have to let this one go; adding more quicksand ain't helping it sink in any better!

Which is why I said "not done particularly well". Add in the fact that it's poking fun at superhero tropes, the fact that it's the exact same is even more grating.

Yes but you sounded were still holding that one part against the film while being further disappointed that it didn't do it well.
