Wolverine Trailer With "The Day the Earth Stood Still"

Word has come out that the first official X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer will be shown in December before Keanu Reeve's next movie The Day the Earth Stood Still...
The 1951 classic science fiction film starring Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly opens on the 12th of December, but keep checking back here at CBM because we usually can get ahold of trailers ahead of time. You can bet this one will be leaked.

There have also been some rumors about the Dragonball trailer coming out at the same time.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine explores Wolverine's early days, before joining the X-Men. The film will cover Logan's early life, and his involvement with the mysterious Weapon X program. Directed by Gavin Hood, the film stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Dominic Monaghan, Danny Huston, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, will.i.am, Daniel Henney, Scott Adkins and Lynn Collins. X-Men Origins: Wolverine claws into theatres May 1, 2009.

Fox Considering Daredevil Sequels and a Deadpool Movie
September 10, 2008 (2:49 pm)

Last Friday, Variety ran an article about how movie studio Twentieth Century Fox (yes, those same guys again) are looking at a variety of options to boost their company’s profit margins in the summer — i.e. their movies are stinking up the joint, and the dough ain’t coming in like it used to. Of course, putting out craptacular fare like “Meet Dave”, “The Rocker”, and “Babylon A.D.” didn’t help matters. Yeah, an expensive Eddie Murphy movie. That’s exactly what the people wanted to see, Fox. Great thinking there, no wonder you failed to get “Watchmen” made.

As a result, the studio is now looking at a couple of potential superhero titles — a “Deadpool” movie that would spin-off Ryan Reynolds’ appearance in the upcoming “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” movie, and a possible return to “Daredevil”, which was released in 2003 and starred Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. The film didn’t exactly burn up the box office, but it did decent business, and spawned a spin-off movie for Garner’s Elektra character. That movie, alas, bombed.

Here’s Variety with the highlighted parts (via Joblo, who noticed the interesting parts yesterday):

Though Fox has no plans for a major overhaul, the studio has scheduled a strategy meeting to assess the status of its superheroes, a group sorely missed this summer. On the agenda, Fox will mull the possibility of more “X-Men” spinoffs, including a young-X-Men project as well as “Deadpool,” based on a character played by Ryan Reynolds in “Wolverine.” The studio is even considering reviving the “Daredevil” property.

To be honest with you, I liked “Daredevil” more than most people did. It was really one of Ben Affleck’s better movies, and the guy has had — well, okay, it was probably the only Ben Affleck movie I saw that I didn’t want to punch myself in the face for having lured myself into seeing it in the first place. A return to the world Matt Murdock would be cool. Likewise with the “Deadpool” movie. Who hasn’t wanted to see Ryan Reynolds kick some serious ass as the merc with the mouth since he basically played the same character, minus the red suit, in “Blade: Trinity”?

Bring on more Daredevil and a Deadpool movie. Time to make up for sitting on “Watchmen” for all those years, Fox.

X-MEN ORIGINS CASTING: Wolverine Movie Gets Gambit and Deadpool
Reports from several reputable sources say Ryan Reynolds of "Blade: Trinity" will be playing Deadpool, and just today the news broke that "Friday Night Lights" star Taylor Kitsch will be playing the card throwing cajun, Gambit.

The IESB has been able to confirm with studio sources that Friday Night Lights star Taylor Kitsch will be playing Remy LeBeau.

Gambit first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #255 back in 1990 and has been particularly popular among fans due in no small part to his prominence in the 90's X-Men animated series. Hailing from New Orleans, Gambit has the ability to control kinetic energy, "charging" objects to the point of instability. He can turn just about anything into an explosive device and his weapon of choice is a deck of playing cards that he throws like bombs.

Yesterday, Ain't It Cool News reported:

Sounds to me like Marvel is going to pack this one with all sorts of geeky Easter eggs if all of these rumors are true. The Blob would be a lot of fun to see in one of these, and there’s another cameo, one that we can officially confirm now, that sounds to me like a set-up for a possible spin-off.

Anyone up for a little DEADPOOL? CHUD.COM reported at the start of December that the character would show up in the film.

Well, today we can exclusively ask you... how about if Ryan Reynolds is playing him?

This one’s supposed to be a secret, but cat’s out of the bag now, Marvel. And I have to say... I think it sounds like fun. I know this has been a character you guys have been developing for years now (hell, I think I pitched a DEADPOOL film back in 2001), and Reynolds is absolutely the right guy for the job.

There's leaked pics from a rough cut of the teaser on the superherohype forum. It was taken from Comic Con by someone's cell phone. It did show pics of the Blob, Gambit, Sabertooth, Deadpool, and of course, Wolverine. It looked pretty good so far.

I seriously can't wait for this. I think Liev Schriebber is a great actor; I thought he was one of the redeeming factors in "Kate and Leopold" (also with Hugh Jackman).

I also think RR is perfect for Deadpool, whom I'm also a big fan of (both). Deadpool has even said [I look like a mix between Ryan Reynolds and a sharpie].

...gunna be awesome

I am a huge fan of Gambit and the Merc with a Mouth, and I really love their casting choices for these to characters. Since the first season of Friday Night Lights, Tim Riggins has reminded me of Gambit for some reason so this makes total sense.
