A reboot would be so easy for this. They could even start it out with by hanging a lampshade on the idea of comic book reboots/retcons and also use that to introduce the audience to breaking the fourth wall.

As long as he doesn't have arm blades and cyclops beams, I think I'll be happy with it though. And while it doesn't appear there is much "progress" if they're resolutely in the position of "kind of a reboot", that's something.

The Dead Pool at the end of Wolverine was a let down. I thought all those mutants would team up and try and take him down and we'd see just how powerful he was/is. Nope - nothing like that.

Instead, we got Night Crawler with Cyclops blast and swords. . . all those mutant powers and we get that?!

Was not impressed. I'll need to see a REALLY good trailer to make me want to see this movie.

I personally don't think a reboot's necessary, especially since they're keeping the same actor. Just start it off with him escaping Weapon X in a state closer to the comics. Just say they recovered him after his fight with Wolverine and he was altered through further experiments. They could cover it in 5 minutes. Then jump the story ahead a number a years and you're good to go.

This would be a retcon, essentially a reboot of sorts given the nature of the character as he exists within current continuity.

They'd do better to just completely start out the movie and just say "Think of Deadpool's appearance in Wolverine as a what-if story, that didn't happen: THIS is the real story." Because seriously, Deadpool is NOT Weapon XI, and to follow a movie from the point of him actually being Weapon XI is just ridiculous.

It just eats me up inside that they didn't use Omega Red as Weapon XI. He would have made so much more sense and wouldn't have pissed off comic book fans as much I expect.

Or just follow the comics standard approach - say that in order to have the Wolverine Deadpool have the amalgamation of powers/dna it required a clone. The original is what the Deadpool movie is based on.

We'll just have to wait and see I guess. If the movie is a letdown, I'll still have my Deadpool comics to read.

The same can be said for Hugh Jackman though. He loves the Wolverine character and tons of people thought they (read: Fox) screwed up his movie.

You could say the same about Hugh Jackman and Wolverine Origins - look how that turned out.

Well making a '' true '' Deadpool movie it most likely will have to be rated R for anyone who reads the comics will understand.

I think the difference is that W-Men Origins: Wolverine would not have been made with out Hugh Jackman. If he said no, I don't think they would recast. If Ryan Reynolds declined, they would have either recast or inserted a different character in his stead or just left that spot blank (considering how little the character was really Deadpool; joke here and there in the beginning).

Logan HIMSELF was not what was wrong with the movie. It was everything else. All of the misused characters, bad retcons (magic bullet), ignoring established comic backstory for no good reason, illogical bullcrap (especially their attempt to directly spin-off a X-men First Class from this feature), etc.

And the subpar CG in a few cases didn't help either.

you could just said the movie was crap from the start, and no one could save it, not even Hugh Jackman.

And let's not forget that Fox most likely wouldn't allow a rated R Deadpool movie. So there goes a lot of possibilities. Like decapitations. Or even killing himself to show he can come back from blowing his own head off.

I like the idea that they'll be breaking the fourth wall, and Deadpool in the movie will be like Deadpool in the comics. I don't particularly care for Ryan Reynolds, but he could make a solid Deadpool (although I think it'll just be his Van Wilder character but with badass fighting skills).

Umm... how? What retcon? Have the scientists remove any attributes they don't want to use (like the arm swords), and then have him escape after Wade regains control. No retcon necessary at all. There's not even a reason to get into the details. Again, it can be covered in 5 minutes if they want.

Why is it ridiculous? Who cares what the back story/origin is? There's no need to even mention the name "Weapon XI" in the new movie. They need to just move forward with the character, not look back. The main plot should pick up years later with Deadpool already an established character. No need for another origin story. They already did one, even if it wasn't quite right.

Would you say that it was at least better than X- Men the Last Stand.
