That was the other one!, but yeah I mean he really hasn't gotten the production love he deserves, I just hope the fans really make it count when this movie comes out because if they get double or triple their budget I'm sure he could get more mainstream stuff

I noticed on the commercial for the Ultimate Alliance game they are showing a good bit of him, guess they are trying to put him more out there.

Deadpool's primary power is an accelerated healing factor, depicted by various artists and writers with varying levels of efficiency. Said healing factor, which was artificially endowed by the Weapon X program, enables him to regenerate any destroyed tissues or organs very quickly. The speed at which this healing factor works varies in direct proportion to the severity of the damage Deadpool suffers. He even survived decapitation at least twice (however in each of these occurrences his head had to be reattached to his body instead of his head growing a new body). Unlike Wolverine’s natural healing factor, Deadpool’s is mentally driven to a partial extent. As a by-product of his healing factor, he possesses enhanced strength, stamina, agility, and reflexes. At the time of the gene therapy that gave the character his healing factor he was dying of terminal cancer. An unanticipated side effect of the therapy was a rapid acceleration of the tumors as well, causing them to quickly spread across his entire body as soon as his powers fully activated. Deadpool's brain cells are similarly affected, which renders him resistant to telepathy.

Aside from his physical advantages, Deadpool is a superb assassin and mercenary, and an expert in multiple forms of martial arts and is an expert swordsman and marksman. He favors using bladed and martial arts weapons to meet opponents in single combat. Deadpool also uses various firearms and blade weapons his trademark weapons to being his twin katanas that he wears on his back, and his dual-wielded pistols.

Over the years, Deadpool has owned a number of personal teleportation devices. Also, during Deadpool's first ongoing comic, he possessed a device which projected holographic disguises, allowing him to go undercover or conceal his appearance. Deadpool is also cursed with life by Thanos which gives him an inability to die, as a way of preventing Deadpool from seeing Mistress Death. In addition Deadpool is multilingual and has demonstrated the ability to speak both German and Japanese.

He's my hero

He has no moral compass; he will chose whatever side he feels like, even in the middle of a fight. I'm sure the movie will portray him as "the good guy" though. We won't see him switch to the bad guy side untill we see cross-overs IMO.

I mean I liked his costume when I was little so thats how I got into it, but if you had just been watching the marvel shows on tv growing up you might not not even know who he is(shocker!!) I believe he was only in two episodes of the x-men cartoon for a few seconds because they were dream sequences.
In spite of this, he's made a presence where applicable in modern media. Hulk Vs. Wolverine, X-men Origins: Wolverine, the video games of Marvel and X-men properties, and he'll be appearing in the Wolverine and the X-men cartoon (since it's apparently the same universe as Hulk Vs. Wolverine).

Not to mention his live action spin-off film of course.

EXACTLY.

I don't understand why everyone thinks he's a superhero. He's an insane, superpowered mercenary. A man who will fight for whichever side pays the best. Does this sound like a hero to you?

I think he's done surprisingly well with fans despite being seen in maybe 4 things on tv(the two x-men episodes for a couple seconds, Origins, and Hulk V.) and only in video games / comic books.

I think you're right about that. Gambit mentioned how Deadpool is featured on one of the advertisements for MUA; I think that is partialy because there is a decent sized fan base for the character.

The movie should be succesful if 1) it is true to the comcis and 2) they keep the budget down, closer to $60M (down compared to some of the more recent graphic novel adaptations). That way they can make money back and produce sequels if they are called for.

Depending on what other mutants are in the film with Deadpool, I don't see budget being a huge factor, should be easy to keep it down with a character like him.

Does he need CGI claws and effects of metal manipulating powers?
Nope, just give him a gun and a sword

Wade Wilson did not have any "mutant" abilities. He was an assassin and mercenary. Eventually he got diagnosed with cancer and he left his past life and love and joined department K (which promised to help him defeat cancer) of the Canadian Gouvernment and one of it's projects called weapon X (a joint US/Canada supersoldier lab) where they used wolverines blood to try and make stronger soldiers. Most in that experiment went nuts and it did not work, but for Wade it did cure his Cancer, and later on (after he was kicked out of weapon x and in the Hospice) he did end up with super healing (which was when he took the name deadpool)

In the movie they made weapon X appear like it is an individual (i.e. wolverine was called weapon X and "Deadpool" weapon 11) but weapon X was really a lab who's job was to create super soldiers as part of the weapon plus program started in 40’s. Weapon X was the 10'th lab with many superhuman and many tests going on at the same time

Agreed, It would be great if it was R, but if their polling showed they'd get way more $$$ at pg-13, I guess I'd settle for that if it got us allot more of him in shows, games, sequels exc.

Venom was never a "good guy". He was a bad guy portrayed sympathetically. An anti-hero.

It's all about being able to show a character doing something which is ostensibly bad, but portray it in a sympathetic way. Of all genres, action and comedy are probably the easiest genres to do this in. Deadpool, if written well, should have no problem starring in a very funny action movie, even with him doing things which are more characteristic of "bad guys".
