I think this will lead to him getting re-cast if Fox really wanted to make this movie, or they are going to rush it into production before Green Latern comes out.

Reynolds better not be recast as Deadpool...If he does though, I have no interest in this movie anymore. He is Deadpool. No one else can play that character like he will.

i don't think we'll have a problem though. Reynolds has put a lot of time and effort into Deadpool, and he really loves the character and wants to do the character justice. He won't go down without a fight, so I'm sure we'll see him as Deadpool sooner rather than later

Maybe...But Reynolds IS Deadpool. That's just how it is. He's got the exact personality, wit, and charm for the character. Even in the comics Deadpool said that Reynold's should play him in a movie, and that was long before we had X-Men Origins. So I mean, really, he's the only guy for the job

Indeed, so let's just hope Ryan fights for the job. He's seriously been working on this movie for like a year and a half, they can't take that away from him

Yeah I don't think WB would do that though. Some people have stated that the creator had no clue what he was talking about in the twitter post since actors do more then 3+ films a year all the time. But who knows.

I could see them not wanting him associated with two comic book movies, but that shouldn't be the issue. The characters are polar opposite, no one would relate them. Not to mention Reynolds should be in a mask the whole time anyway so some people may not realize it's him

Same thing could have been said about Chris Evans who did The Losers for WB and now Captain America

Yeah Deadpool isn't going to be a house hold name so I don't see why they wouldn't want him to do both Deadpool and Green Lantern. Same as how Evans was in the unknown losers movie and now Captain America.

Exactly. I think it's safe to assume Reynolds will in fact be doing Deadpool. He has time before GL2 goes into production to film it. I really want to believe WB won't hold him back from it. Because that would absolutely blow.

I mean, it really is like if they had stopped Evan's from doing Captain America because he was in The Losers. Although The Losers probably won't be getting a sequel since it didn't perform well...

But WB has never come across to me as a studio that would stop an actor from doing another role, so I'm not worried about it.

No I'm not really worried either. They have never done it in the past and I don't know why they would start with Reynolds. Only thing I could see is Deadpool getting pushed back a little if they do in fact film GL 2 and 3 back to back. But even then I could see Reynolds making time for Deadpool.

He read an article that said:

Well – it’s obvious WB don’t want to see their marquee name prance around in a Marvel costume for a rival studio and they will want to keep him exclusively as Lantern, so any contract Fox might have that holds Reynolds down for Deadpool could easily be bought out by WB

That is what made him make his comment.


1. The article is just 100% speculation on that writer's part.

2. The rest of the posts from the creator is just b****ing that his precious creation isn't getting made....which no one ever said.

About the quote again, its obvious? Really? And why is it obvious? Some of the people at DC and maybe fans may not want him to do both...but I doubt the higher ups at the studio or the parent company really care about such trivial things as that. At least I hope they wouldn't

Besides the reasons that WB has nothing to worry about (Deadpool = not as known, Deadpool is very different than Lantern), Green Lantern will be out well ahead of Deadpool. He'll be known as Green Lantern much more than as Deadpool to the general audience. WB has nothing to worry about, and if they were to actually freak out about it and try to keep him from doing Deadpool...we'll it would just be completely and totally....stupid.

WB trying to screw over Fox. Let the drama begin! I never read any of Deadpool's comics. I thought Reynolds played the same old same old role he always does *yawn* in the Wolverine movie....so that's why I wouldn't have a problem with re-casting the role.

They shouldn't have picked Reynolds for the part if they were worried about that anyway. But actors are ALL OVER THE PLACE playing multiple comic characters. Yeah, we got Ryan Reynolds with Hannibal King, Wade Wilson, and Hal Jordan... but as others have said, he's been bested by Chris Evans: Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four, Jensen in The Losers, Casey in TMNT, Lucas Lee in Scott Pilgrim, and Steve Rogers in Captain America. And an argument could also be made for Push, even if it didn't have its origins in a comic book.

Unfortunately, Ryan Reynolds did not have a lot to work with and very little room to grow the character. There is a lot more to Wade Wilson than how he was portrayed in XO:Wolverine.

Also, I don't think Fox needs help from WB; Fox destroys its own movies

The main issue I think is that they don't want Reynolds to be in two competing franchises. All those movies you listed that Reynolds and Evans have done, there is less chance of a sequel popping up anytime soon. Even if they do a FF reboot, it would be less likely they would cast Evans as Johnny Storm.

If they do go ahead with Deadpool, there is a high chance GL2 or GL3 could be also in the works and might even be released in the same year. When was the last time an actor played two superheroes in a movie released in the same year?

I can see why they would be weary about Deadpool now.

how is it any different than if any other actor releases 2 movies in the same year??? yeah these are 2 superhero movies that could potentially be competing against each other but still, it's not uncommon for an actor to have multiple movies be released in the same year.

it just doesn't pay to speculate on something like this @ this point b/c we have a little under a year until green lantern comes out and have very little news on deadpool right now.

until we hear something from fox on what they are planning on doing w/this movie, anything that is said @ this point is purely specualtion.
