What does Green Lantern have in common with Deadpool? They're both originally from comic books. Other than that? Nothing. No thematic similarities, completely different tone, completely different characters, and they're not even both superheroes. Green Lantern is a superhero who is really a galactic police officer, while Deadpool is an insane assassin and not truly a hero at all.
I resent that.

Afrobean, good point about Ryan Reynolds having already played Deadpool.
Also, John Cusack was in two movies based on Stephen King novels. Doubt anyone complained (1408 and Stand By Me).

Ryan Reynolds On The Chances Of A Green Lantern Sequel; Says Deadpool Is "In Development"!

Quote:
The actor says he has no idea about the status of a sequel for Green Lantern, while also promising that despite being busy with R.I.P.D. he is still up for starring in Deadpool...
After the tepid critical and box office response to Green Lantern, the status of a sequel has been pretty up in the air, despite recent talk of a darker, grittier and more action packed take on the DC character next time. So, what does Ryan Reynolds know of it? You can find that out in the following interview, as well as what exactly is going on with R.I.P.D. and Deadpool.

"'R.I.P.D.' I'm doing next and then hopefully 'Deadpool,'" Reynolds told MTV News in a recent interview. "It's in development still."

As for whether or not this means the actor will be forced to choose between one or the other, he said:, "No, not at all, far from it."

"I have no idea, that's not up to me," the actor responded when pressed on the subject of whether or not we'll see a sequel to Green Lantern. "I don't write those checks. And if I did I certainly wouldn't be standing on a red carpet, I would be sunning myself somewhere. There are infinite [possibilities for a sequel]. 70 years of history there, you could go anywhere."

I sure hope that is as literal and accurate as can be.
He could just be talking about the order of the comic book films though.

Deadpool to be Redeemed

Quote:
Producer Lauren Shuler Donner has been talking up plans for a Deadpool movie, stating that the filmmakers will endeavour to do right by the character having made a hash of 'The Merc with a Mouth' in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.

"He was treated totally wrong in the Wolverine film" she told Total Film. "And yes we will redeem him."

Donner said there is still a fair way to go before the film goes into production, explaining "We have a few more things to do, and then it's up to the studio whether we're going to move forward or not."

But Ryan Reynolds is still attached to play Wade Wilson should they get the green-light, and Donner sounds optimistic on that front, stating "I'm pretty excited. We have a good script and a good director."

As previously reported, that director is Tim Miller, the special effect wiz whose previous credits include X-Men and X2.
I wonder what that "fair way to go" means. Maybe they have a lot more tie ins to other X-Men movies.

I was shocked when I saw that Reynold was doing Green Lantern, but as long as Deadpool is still in the works I'm cool with that.

The question is... will they be tears of joy, or will you be drowning in despair at how badly they f*cked it up!

...and me, I'm more excited about Deadpool (and the Avengers) than I am about TDKR. Without Ledger's iconic performance, TDK was a decent flick, nothing more. And what we've seen of Bane so far does not give me a good feeling.

Ryan Renolds has already gone on record saying it's more R-rated than most the comics
