True. As I have said to many times to count, I never listen to critics. But I think thst this will end up with a cult following. I don't think thst the awesomeness will be accepted by the masses.

I think Deadpool might surprise. It's definitely a different take on comic book films but I think some people (like me) enjoy different. I will see it at least once in theatres, not sure if I will go more than once. I know it'll be a day 1 or week 1 BD buy though.

Cast is debatable, but how are the filmmakers weak? This is Tim Miller's first feature film, but he isn't some nobody, he's one of the guys who founded Blur Studios, a studio that has made some CGI trailers that, honestly, are great short films, like this video:

https://youtu.be/1udespUmzGY

Tim Miller may not be an established director, but he hasn't gone into Deadpool without any knowledge of visual media. Plus, with how low budget the film is compare to other comic book films, Deadpool looks great effects wise. Honestly, I think this is going to be the high point of the pre-summer releases.

My prediction for Deadpool's rotten tomatoes is: 85%, Deadpool brings the fans and newcomers together by expertly showcasing the title character's outlandishly funny humor, well crafted brutality, and surprisingly touching human elements in a very effective crowd pleaser.

No need to get your hopes up. Someone has to keep it in check.

I'm actually expecting this to lose against Zoolander domestically. Would be shocked if it beats it. Trailer has fallen flat almost everytime I've seen it in theatres.

Some kind of airship? Marvel and Fox are still at it with each other. They are currently holding back one of their games, Marvel Heroes, from releasing mutant heroes to the roster. I wouldn't expect them to start playing nice with one another anytime soon.

I think word of mouth will help this succeed slightly beyond expectations. People will be telling others that it is quite funny and action packed. People will be convinced enough to the point of thinking, "Hmmm... ok. I'll give it a try. It's suppose to be something different, so I'll check it out." And then most of them will be pleasantly surprised enough to convince others in the same manner. It will be a modest word of mouth "crawl away" hit!

Well everytime I see Zoolander 2 trailer in theaters, it also doesn't hit with the audience. In fact one time a heard someone angrily groan when the trailer came on. I honestly see no hype for Zoolander 2, especially compare to Deadpool. Even if Deadpool only gets $150 million dollars in the box office, that's still a good intake for it. Plus it doesn't have to beat Zoolander 2, just like Kingsman didn't beat Fifty Shades, Deadpool can still get a fantastic intake without even being number 1 at the box office. Though there is the possibility that it won't do as good as Kingsman, as Deadpool has been denied to be shown in China due to it's extreme content.

What about the TV Show deal they reached?

Marvel can't use mutants in their movies so a show based on them is of no use. They want movie rights and since they can't have them they are eliminating the existence of mutants from comics and games apparently. Fox can make their show, which won't be part of their film series, but Marvel won't promote it with comics and games.

I have to agree with this. As much as I objectively want the film to do well, the juvenile nature of the trailers, complete with that tired DMX track, is just doing absolutely nothing to make me want to see it. Reynolds is almost completely absent (in recognizable form) from the trailers, and my concern, is that while fans might love it, I don't see how any of it could convert a non-fan (I happen to be one, as I'm not much of a comic book fan, and I didn't even know who Deadpool was before a couple of years ago), who probably see this as some sort of "naughty Spider-Man" movie. And then there's the elephant in the room, which is the R-rating.

The comparison to Kingsman is important, because no matter how you felt about that film, there's no denying that the trailers showed a movie with more mass appeal. Even if you (like me) had no idea of that comic, you did know it had Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine in it, and it looked flashy, fun and more on the level of a quasi-Bond movie.

And that movie opened second, because it was against an anomalous film, targeting women, which was also rated R. And American parents hate sex, so I'm sure at least some families opted for Kingsman as the lesser of two evils.

That isn't a luxury being afforded to Deadpool, which has to contend with a PG-13 action comedy, which could be poised to poach at least some of the younger audience away, especially if it doesn't get terrible reviews.

Has anyone seen that fan created video of Deadpool (computer animation) that is floating around the web? It is Very NSFW!, but it is also quite funny. At least I thought it was funny.

Deadpool Red Band Debate - Rated R or PG-13?! - Beyond The Trailer - YouTube
I understand it's a superhero movie which means it automatically appeals to kids but it's up to the parents to decide whether the content is appropriate for their kid or not and in my opinion since Deadpool is not the mother should explain to her son that he's not old enough and tell him no he cannot see it. There were plenty of R rated movies I wanted to see that I was allowed to as a kid and there were plenty that my parents made me wait till I was older. Fox shouldn't have to create another edit of the movie just so young children can see it. That would be like editing South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut because children seen it was a cartoon and wanted to see it.
