Most of the bloody violence has been post Cable&Deadpool. There actually was not much in that series, so it can be done. The material is not completely full of blood spurting out of people. I just don't want them to be limited. I do not want them to have to cut out anything for a rating.
What series is the first set pictures from?

I believe that one of him shooting himself is from the Merc With A Mouth series, I think. Pretty sure that comic has Bullseye in it though.

well, you could look at it this way. Deadpool fans could get one R Rated movie and that's it or a PG 13 Franchise.

Not sure why we're even debating this as this will be a FOX production so it'll have a few (very few) moments of good and a whole lotta bad.

FOX has yet to prove themselves IMO in this genre.

Agreed, but the R rating could make the film enjoyable, at least tolerable. I would rather have one movie that is close to the material than three films that are loosely based on it.

I know, but if it was R I would at least have hope it would stick close to it. Knowing them, they will introduce Cable in it lol.

Correct! Those issues with Bullseye were some of the best

I m not so much debating IF it WILL be rated R or PG-13 as much as if it SHOULD be. Live Free SHOULD have been rated R IMO, but it was still the second best in the series.

I can only hope that FOX will be too busy with First Class and the Fantastic Four reboot and Wolverine that Ryan Reynolds et al can make the movie they want.

Just to bother people like you who think R rated is required for faithfulness, they'll make it R rated, but have him using his ADAMANTIUM ARM KATANAS and EYE BEAMS throughout the entire movie.

You know...when you take it away from the context of them making that Deadpool...that just sounds insanely awesome.

Of course, I thought it was very cool in the movie as well (he looked stupid though) but I looked at it as a new character and not Deadpool (even though I don't really know all that much about him).

Yeah, if they had made that ANYONE but Deadpool, I would have been PSYCHED over it. The fight scene was really good and intense as it is, I'm just annoyed that it's supposed to be Deadpool.

Should have been Omega Red. Swap out arm katana for metal whips and it would be all gravy. Maybe they thought that would be too close to Whiplash? I bet they just wanted to feature Deadpool more prominently to tease a spin-off, so they made him the villain at the very last minute to give him more screen time.

I think they'll probably just open the movie with Deadpool addressing the audience directly telling them that what happened in the Wolverine movie didn't really happen. It was all just a dream or something. Or maybe they won't explain it at all and just open the movie with Deadpool proper, and then lampshade it later in the movie by having him lament that he doesn't have awesome eye beams or arm katana because that was a different movie.

I'd be happy with one R Rated movie, I think FOX can take a dive with an R rated anti-hero movie, have a moderate budget (60 Mill) and I'm sure they shouldn't be disappointed.

Rodriguez Closing in on Deadpool

Source: IGN

Quote:
Robert Rodriguez was talking Deadpool at last week's Comic-Con, explaining that he had been sent an early draft of the latest screenplay, but was unsure whether it would be his next project.

Well a week is a long time in Hollywood, and the LA Times is claiming that he is now close to signing on the dotted line to shoot Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick's script.

According to the paper, "Rodriguez and studio Fox are negotiating. There's no deal yet, and the sides need to agree on a number of key points, but it's moved beyond the casual discussion stage and into the more substantive realm of deal points."

So it looks like once the director has finished work on Spy Kids 4, he'll turn his attention to the Merc with the Mouth.

If anyone can make this film the way it's supposed to be, it's Robert Rodriguez. So, if he does sign on... they're gonna have an actor that can absolutely KILL it and a director that will knock it out of the park. I can't wait!

I’d take a great R rated movie over a mediocre PG-13 franchise.

I don’t see a need for a franchise for characters like Deadpool, Daredevil, and The Punisher.

And the dudes who wrote Zombieland...

Here's hoping Rodriguez does it, shoots it regardless of rating, and then when Fox releases it as PG13 in theaters, we can get a unrated director's cut on home video.

I'd be ok with this. As long as we get his definitive version in the end (which with almost all his movies, we always do) then I'll be happy. I hope he signs for this, and then finally does Sin City 2 after
