I actually like it when critics use snarky humor in their reviews.

So, what I'm gathering from all this, is a comic book movie isn't getting super positive reviews (go figure) and a bunch of turbo-nerds on the internet are getting upset because of it?

Like, did you guys actually expect this to receive critical acclaim?

Reviews on this one are tricky because they'll be more akin to a comedy than a straight super-hero action movie, i.e. all over the place. All I had to see was that some people (including my favorite YouTube reviewer) absolutely loved the film, and so I know there's a chance I'll love it too.

I just personally like knowing what goes on in people's head so reviews are usually a good source to know who someone forms their opinions... also very good to tell their tastes in a few things like films are humor.

I actually don't really use reviews to tell me what to see and what not to see, the only time I use them for that is if I notice that everyone is complaining about the same thing(s) and even then it depends on if that matters to me.

What are you talking about? You're cherry-picking negative reviews when the majority so far have been positive. The Letterboxd average is far more towards the positive, and so is RT. Metacritic is the lowest so far, and it's still positive. You choosing to post negative reviews doesn't skew the facts.

I'm talking about the people in here that are like "oh well I'll never read another review by that person ever again" just because they disagree with the review itself.

And I'm not cherry picking any reviews. Those are the only 2 things I've seen so far about this movie. I don't go to Rotten Tomatoes. I have certain critics and podcasters that I follow on Twitter and Letterboxd, and the 2 reviews I've posted so far are the only 2 reviews I've seen about this film. That's all.

this comic book movie isn't quite like any others that have come before it though.......if a reviewer/critic doesn't understand what the character is about, it's easy to see why people won't like it.

either that or people just can't find it in themselves to enjoy anything.

whatever, this movie was made for the fans anyway......not for people who are paid to find something in a movie to b!tch about. personally i hope they take some kind of shot @ critics in the movie itself......or in a sequel if one gets made.

people have said they won't take a critic seriously when they start name-calling or taking shots @ the intended audience......kind of like you did in your original post.

Well, then maybe you shouldn't base your judgement on 2 people, then proceed to come into the thread and belittle people for getting agitated. I personally couldn't care less what the negative review turnout is. I'm happy it's as positive as it has been so far.

Granted I don't read comic books, and I don't have any knowledge on the character outside of the movie trailers, the one reviewer that gave it a D compared it to Kick-Ass, which he liked a lot.

Okay, that's great! I didn't know, because frankly, I don't care. This isn't a film I'm going to be seeking out every write-up and review I can find. I simply posted the only 2 I've come across.

Yeah, and I was saying I enjoy that. I referred to it as "snarky humor". I like that. I think it's funny. I hate boring, stale reviews that just walk you through the plot. I think you're just getting a little too defensive honestly.

The comment that was posted isn't really snarky humor, it's a fairly ignorant unjustified statement that just makes it hard to take in anything that critic says about the movie because it's obviously not an objective review. There are positive reviews that will do the same, but at least they're friendly about it.

As another member said, it's a pretty unique comic book movie, and I said as much in my post.

Haha, it's a phrase my group of friends use. I don't know if we made it up, or where the origins were, but basically it's just something extremely nerdy. Beyond the average amount of nerd-ism.

(Full disclosure, we, ourselves, are a bunch of turbo-nerds. We all play table top games, role-playing games, go to arcades to play DDR, etc)

It might be but if you enjoy Deadpool as a character, I'm gathering you will like the film. Deadpool is one of those characters that you are either going to like or hate, this film is going to be the same.

Kidding. But, really, I don't think anybody is bent out of shape due to negative (or positive) reviews. I'm all for a more unique review style but I just think it's not intelligent/worthwhile to ostracize the group that the movie was made for.

I'm not a turbo-nerd. I haven't even bought my tickets yet. I don't own any funko pops, I don't have any Deadpool apparel. I'd like to think I'm a very reasonably paced nerd.
