I disagree. You can have funny characters in a serious film. Deadpool is basically Guardians of the Galaxy but with a lead that makes more jokes then Star Lord.

Ironically, Deadpool opened here in Hong Kong the same time the new Monkey King movie opened. Deadpool is like a westernized version of the Monkey King character - very similar personality.

More jokes. Much more. Many many more.

Mcu does quips. This was jokes, jokes, violence, jokes, jokes, sex, violence, jokes, violence, jokes. (not that there's anything wrong with this)

I'm not saying this film is comedy and nothing else. It is very much a comedy though. The large amount of the praises for this film are about how hilarious it is (as it's supposed to be according to all the deadpool fans).

supersix4, along with his other unclear words, took issue with my criticism of jokes not landing in the film. I approximated 50% to 60% landed. My (un)enjoyment of the film based on lack of successful jokes (for me) is not a good way to view this film apparently. I'm trying to understand why.

Hong Kong is kind of its own area. I know China took control over Hong Kong from Britain many years back, but I don't know if they are under the same control as mainland China is.

They aren't. They have their own economy and political system, and operate in capitalist view, rather than socialist mainland. Technically same country, but seperate in just about everything else.

There have been many live-action ones over the years but the main masterpiece is the animated one that I highly recommend you buying before it goes out of print. Here's my lengthy review of the move and the blu-ray:
