Since when have critics had to explain what they would change to make a film work? We're film audiences, not filmmakers. I found the climax disappointing, I thought the jokes fell flat and the creativity began running short, but because I can't say "they should have made Deadpool do this instead" or "how about the ending was about this" does that then mean I didn't find the ending disappointing. Are people who give films positive ratings expected to explain how the film could have been bad had things been changed about? No, of course not.

Since they're judgmental experts on what makes a film bad I think its only fair they're capable of explaining in a logical way how they reached such a conclusion :P

Again, thats what deadpool is... Rapid fire flat jokes, some hit some miss. Guy next to me was cracking up at the opening with the hello kitty stuff, and the pants pulling meanwhile I sat their unaffected. Some hit some miss.

You guys are going on and on about what is the foundation of the character.. I think thats why people are taking time to help you out

Alright this is my last post. There is no problem with the character. The movie that surrounds the character is bland. That is why I didn't like it. I made several posts explaining throughly why I didn't like it, but that's not enough I guess. I don't want to get suspended for this, so goodbye.
I mean I could pick apart every female character in comic book movies off their first films. Especially when they're establishing a world. Overtime though you develop the connection and care. If they dropped Gwen off the roof in Spider-Man it woulda been less impactful than after two movies.

That's pretty much my review. I laughed a lot, but it peaked too early and the rest of the film just didn't live up. At the end of the day, I walked into it more enthusiastic about the film than I did coming out. Honestly, had the film capped off with an action scene on par with the opening one, I'd be right with the rest of you guys and say it was fantastic, but I felt for a film that was so much about a build up, it just didn't satisfy in the end.

I mean yeah, personally if I'm really JUDGING IT, I'd say I'd have liked to see him using bigger guns, killing more guys, but I think they mentioned it had to do with budgeting. I'm sure we'll get more in the next movie, but that along with a few minor things to tweak it I was overall happy with it.

The pacing was so good that honestly they hid lots of things that could have been massive flaws and really killed a lot of films.

Who is going on about the character of Deadpool being the reason we dislike the movie? Both Gorilla and I both explicitly pointed out that we liked the way Deadpool himself was portrayed.

My point is your criticism of the world around him/ characters fits what his world is, to change the world/characters around him is to change him, which then I'd think you'd have seen way more people judging the film harshly. He doesn't have a Pepper/ Alfred around him. He's got crappy friends, in a crappy world with what was a crappy budget lol.

but saying a movie is "bland" or a character is "awful" are pretty awful responses for a "critic."

Which is why I said what more did you want, yet got no answer just "why do I need to explain"

The movie is very high percentage comedy, which inherently is hit-or-miss. I totally get that splitting audiences.

I definitely see why the ending is disappointing. Morena Baccarin wasn't given much of a character (no source material that I'm aware of for more fleshing out). The time here was spent establishing Wade, who I was so invested in that I couldn't care less about a subpar setpiece or a comparatively bland love interest. I just wanted to see more Deadpool and was so invested in the movie that by the time it reached the 3rd act I overlooked subpar (not bad) elements.

I've never known Deadpool to have a sole, serious love interest so that plot to me was more just catering to making him more human and was a means to an end.

It got counted as a romantic Valentine's Day movie. Duh.

Exactly. That whole aspect to me was just supposed to be a joke. I wouldn't bat an eye if that plot is thrown away by a line of dialogue in the sequel (as typical sequels tend to do).

Hell, they'll probably make fun of the entire third act and how they had no money to do what they wanted.

Deadpool has a couple of serious relationships but the most serious one is with Death, which wouldn't work in the film at all.

This film. It'll be perfectly fine down the road. Unless you're one of those "they can't do everything like the comics because it won't translate" people, to which is say they just did a perfect adaptation of one of the hardest to adapt comic characters of all time. So yes they can.

There's quite a bit of Deadpool I have yet to read, but I know of a couple. I just typically know him to be hung up, then forget about them all relatively quick.

I'd prefer Death go to Marvel so they can use her for Thanos, but that's just me. Not sure who currently has the rights to her, but I doubt it would be Fox.

Thank you for getting it. I wave my wave my white flag to the rest because I don't know how to make it any more clear what my issues are.

Honestly who really cares why these people didn't enjoy this film. The movie has been out for 3 weeks and they gave their opinions on the film during opening weekend and yet they still keep coming back to this thread for whatever reason saying the same things over and over again.

Ryan Reynolds is pushing for Deadpool to have a male love interest in the sequel. We shall see how that pans out.
[Show spoiler]Maybe it'll be Stan Lee's gratuitous cameo?
