Because people have a right to disagree and state their opinions?

i think he was getting at the fact that if these people didn't like the movie, why do they bother coming back in here after they've already said they dont like it??

one has to wonder if they aren't doing it only to stir the pot??

i don't care for plenty of movies.....but i don't feel the need to constantly go into those threads to post the same things over and over.

It's weird, though. If I don't like a movie, I usually don't post in the thread dedicated to it at all. If I do, I'll express my opinion once or twice and then move on to discussing movies that I did like. What I don't do is camp out and repeat the same complaints over and over again and then go complain in the unpopular movie opinions thread about how poorly my unpopular opinions have been received.

And therein lies the philosophical question/discussion point of the day: At what point does a person crapping on a movie in its own thread go from stating an opinion to threadcrapping?

This is true. But saying what you would have changed or pining for what you wished a movie would have been - but is not - is also very bad criticism. It shouldn't be used or desired.

Any valid criticism must first make an honest attempt to try and recognize what any give project is and try and rate it and discuss it on its own terms. This can be hard to do, but if it isn't even being attempted, things are generally amiss.

usually if someone has a problem or valid criticism of a movie, they'll voice said criticism and then offer some kind of nugget that will allow the discussion to forward or be used as a stepping stone for the next person.

that just isn't possible though when people say "it was bland" or "the story was generic."

ok.....what's your point?? b/c you haven't made one yet, you've stated your opinion and that's it. what am i supposed to do w/it??

that's the problem i have when people criticize a movie like earlier this morning......not that they didn't care for it necessarily, but they don't add anything worthwhile to the discussion.

and then to keep harping on the same thing just pushes me over the edge.

Yeah, we're not. It's just naturally formed through conversation. One person said something, a few agreed. Suddenly, five on five battling back and forth, we're not stirring the pot. Especially with this sort of film, where everyone, even those opposing it, have been rooting for the film from the beginning and still, it's not out of understanding that people still resurface in the thread to see what's going on with it.

I think if I was stirring the pot, or anyone else for that matter, people would be taking positive posts, and deconstructing them. But I haven't see a whole lot of that.

I could even see a 15-20 minute one-off/short where it's set up like a Pepe Le Pew cartoon. The real Ryan Reynolds would be the female cat - terrified and running away as fast as he can from a skipping/prancing
[Show spoiler](like what he did when he approached Francis on the bridge after the "I'm touching myself tonight" bit)
Deadpool expressing filthy notions of love. RR keeps getting hurt running away, ends up looking as bad as (or worse than) DP himself, and ends up chasing after a now-disgusted and fleeing DP over the end credits. That's gold people - mine it!

But I still think him stalking the real Hugh Jackman would be awesome.

Yet you have no problem doing that over in the E.T thread.

take a step back and eat a crumpet foggs!!

like i said, i have absolutely no problem people offering criticism on a movie when they actually give reasons for those criticism's.....which you always do.

but to say a movie is "bland", or a character's only purpose was to be "hot"......and to keep offering the same thing over and over and not elaborate just a little bit, that just gets tedious and doesn't move the conversation forward.

if it was a single comment that they didn't care for it, ok, fine, that's your opinion. but when that's your response 5, 6, 7, 8x......like someone else said, at what point is it considered thread crapping vs "voicing an opinion"??

Oh believe me, I'm done posting in the "we never landed on the moon - that's a hoax - but alien abductions are real" thread. But thanks for bringing your disagreement with me over to this thread.

I've never been in this thread or expressed my opinion before today. A certain member asked me why I thought the movie was bad, I told him and went into detail about what I didn't like and why I didn't like it but apparently that is not enough. Now if you have an opinion that isn't overwhelming positive you're accused of just trying to start shit and believe me that's not what I'm trying to do. I just posted my opinion and went in depth but a certain member just can not fathom the idea of someone not liking his precious deadpool.

Maybe a statement or two but I've never talked about the film this much in depth until today. Hardly "stirring the pot".

Also that post is from July

Edit: that other post wasn't even from this thread

It is also your attitude that doesn't help the matter either. You are now trying to get personal and going to make things even worse over something you can just ignore.
