I gave in to peer pressure and went to go see this earlier today. I went in with only minimum knowledge of the Deadpool character. I'm going to try and structure my thoughts here, but sorry if it comes across as random rambling.

I thought it was a great film, highly entertaining. I'm really surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I truly thought that the fourth wall breaking and silly one liners would get old after a while but they never did, it was consistently hilarious. Ryan Reynolds is perfect as the title character, every interaction he had in the film was great. Colossus is a great straight man to Deadpool's antics, and Deadpool's relationship with Vanessa is honestly one of the best on-screen relationships I've seen in a long time. The only thing I didn't love was Ajax. He was okay but he wasn't really memorable and he was just decent. Oh, and I loved Gina Carano. She didn't die at the end, so she better come back in the next film. Angel Dust for Deadpool 2!

So in the end, Deadpool was pretty friggin' great. I can't wait for the sequel.

That's an incredible accomplishment! considering its an R-rated film.

I know that Deadpool deserves to be, and pretty much needs to be, an R-Rated movie, but the sad thing about it is there are some underage kids who know who Deadpool is, but unfortunately can't, or shouldn't, watch the movie. There are just some things that I will not allow my ten year old to watch, not so much because of the violence, but for the overly crude language and sexuality. So, I think it would be great if there was a censored kid-friendly "clean cut" of Deadpool released on DVD and Blu-ray that was more along the lines of a PG-13 rating. I also think it would just be interesting to see how well a "clean cut" version would sell compared to the theatrical R-Rated version, since usually it's the opposite that happens whenever a movie gets a more extended or graphic cut on home video. Would there be a market for a more kid-friendly version of the film? I think so. Fox should consider it. Even if kids weren't that familiar with the Deadpool character before the release of the movie, I think all the television commercials and other promotional ads have made them interested, so it would be beneficial for everyone, the studio and the kids, to have a version released for them to see.

You know what would be a great film for your kid? The Beastmaster. It's PG, so you know it won't have any content that's not appropriate for him. It's a great film that the whole family can watch together.

Beastmaster has frontal nudity IIRC
Plus, if he wants his kid to enjoy it he can view it w/him when he feels he's old enough.
Also, he probably approved of the guns being digitally altered into radios in ET. You see where I'm going w/this?

Umm... no.

Obviously, you missed point or you're just being smart-ass -- I personally do like The Beastmaster, though. Sure, there are plenty of movies for me to watch with my kid, but he'd like to see Deadpool, and if there was another version of it that wasn't so extreme, he could.

Yeah, I'm sure some people believe the movie only works if it's in its vulgar R-rated state, but I think that's selling the movie kind of short, even if true. After all, there has to be other merits to it that would translate to somewhat of lower rating. It's not like I'm asking to take Caligula and turn it into Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I guess some people can't get around the idea of taking a graphic film and cleaning it up a bit for an even wider audience, because they are so used to having the reverse done with taking a movie and making it even more graphic with an even higher rated or unrated cut.

Umm, no. I didn't approve of such things. I have no problems with guns. We have guns in many superhero movies. I'd just like to see a cleaner cut without any jokes about f*cking. You missed my point, too. I think there's a market for two versions of the film on home video. Believe it or not, we had such a thing with Saturday Night Fever (I know, weird example) and practically any movie that was ever edited for television in the past.

Unlike the family-friendly video version of Avatar, Deadpool is just too complicated to make a family-friendly version. The whole movie would have to be re-written.

The only funny option that can be done is to release a video version with constant bleeping and black censor bars. This way it would be for the children and would also be an entertaining version for the adults. Or re-dub every inappropriate word with "bunny", "pony", "princess", "puppy" or "ice cream." Instead of "I'm touching myself tonight", they can redub it as "I'm eating ice cream tonight."

I can even imagine Ryan Reynolds wanting to ridiculously redub the film G-rated style as an alternate audio option for the video release.

Or you can get over it and accept that not everything has to be made for your fricken ten year old? "It's a super hero film so my child should be allowed to watch it" is so damn entitled it's not even funny. The film is rated R. The character is rated R. if you want a PG-13 deadpool go watch Wolverine Origins.

I swear. What's next? Parents wanting a kid friendly version of Goodfellas? "I feel like the film has a good story that children should see, but it's just to violent and vulgar!"

So... much... THIS!!!

This "make it suitable for my pre-teen child" mentality has got to stop. Growing up we never had issue with the system as it is. If it was a great film that was unsuitable for kids, we just waited until we were old enough to watch it. It's as simple as that.

Myself? I plan on letting my future children watch R-rated content at young ages, so long as I feel that my dialogue with them is able to determine that they are mature enough to handle the content appropriately. My parents let me watch many an R-rated film from the age of 8, but we always had great discussions about what was shown and the purpose behind why it was shown. As a result, in my teen years, I was the only one of my friends who didn't freak out and lose their collective shit when nudity or crudity or violence was unfolding on screen. My male friends all turned into drooling hollering neanderthals everytime a breast flashed on screen and I was able to just stay in the story and understand why that imagery was shown without it "affecting me."

Besides, kids are going to find a way to see what they want to see somehow. Better to see it in a contolled environment than someplace where their peers have a chance to dare them to do something stupid that they just saw in a film.

I actually decided not to use it to keep it fresh... although I didn't think about what thread this was at the time.

Ah yes, another entitled person demanding a movie be edited down solely for just his little rug rat.
