Five Director Candidates from Liefeld

Quote:
As the Deadpool solo flick stirs in development hell, comic book creator Rob Liefeld has revealed who he'd like to see direct Fox's comic-to-film adaptation.

Liefeld tweeted a posting to his official site, where he listed the following helmers he believes could do justice to the script penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Liefeld's picks are: the writers themselves; siblings Lana Wachowski and Andy Wachowski (The Matrix); The A-Team's Joe Carnahan; Genndy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack, Clone Wars); and action icon Sylvester Stallone, who most recently directed The Expendables.

Check out Lifeld's site for his reasons behind these picks.

(More officially, Adam Berg was most recently mentioned as a possible director for Deadpool.)
IGN

From Rob Liefeld:
Quote:
So, there’s five directors who would pull off a fantastic vision of Deadpool. Any one of these choices will create a compelling, commercial vision for a DEADPOOL film that FOX can exploit for years to come. It’s a no-brainer. Time’s a wasting….let’s get this baby rolling!
Sounds like time is of the essence. I like how much Liefeld is promoting this project. I recommend reading his page, his reasoning for each candidate is strong.

Vegeta is correct, it was definitely not Ultimate Deadpool. Ultimate Deadpool looks nothing like that. I played the game, it's the original version of the character. They took aspects of the Ultimate version (with the reality TV show and stuff) but it was most definitely the normal Deadpool. The game was pretty fun, I gotta add

Is anyone interested in buying comics of the current runs of deadpool? I also have HC trades, 1-3 plus Merc with a mouth (slight creese on jacket) and Suicide kings for sale, I know this is not the trade forum but I think this mostly applies to everyone who looks at this thread.

If interested just PM me, thanks.

Have Deadpool 1-30
Merc with a Mouth complete
Suicide Kings complete plus one shot
Deadpool corps 1-9, plus prelude

Good to hear he hasn't forgotten about this movie. Ryan Reynolds just needs to stop taking more roles. Either that, or take on the roles that will earn big bucks for him and fund it himself.

I hope we see it happen. I also hope that the studios don't oversaturate us with Ryan Reynolds so that the public gets sick of him before they get around to making this. He's got a lot on his plate right now...Hope he finds time for it.

20th Century Fox Wants a Comedy Director for "Deadpool"

Quote:
"Zombieland" writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have apparently finished a draft of the "Deadpool" script. Just recently 20th Century Fox was getting serious about finding a director and getting the project in front of the cameras.

Ryan Reynolds, who played the character in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," was set to return with Robert Rodriguez in talks to direct. Eventually everything fell apart and Reynolds went on to other projects.

Now comes word from David Slade (30 Days of Night) that he was considering helming the film, but eventually decided to sign on for the studio's "Daredevil" reboot. He now revealed on his Twitter account that Fox is searching for comedy directors to tackle "Deadpool."

"Love DEADPOOL. [I] was never engaged in the (quite fantastic) script," he wrote. "Last I heard studio was looking at comedy directors. None of my business."

man i hope they don't F this up!!!

They will. I'm not a true believer in Reynolds as a leading man in films like these. I am very wary of GREEN LANTERN.

I think a great director for this would be Edgar Wright. He can handle both comedy and serious and he has shown he can adapt source material.

i think he's better suited to play Deadpool than Green Lantern.

i'm also a little shaky on Lantern right now as well.

all i know is i'm def. seeing Thor in the theater and am a bit iffy on Green Lantern @ this point.

unless i see a trailer that just blows me away, i'll prob. end up waiting to check GL out on blu.

i'd still like to see Reynolds take on the Deadpool character....i just think the character was made w/him in mind.

Well I guess a lot of the direction of the film is relant on comedy, we just also need a great action director, and a director to take risks (a Comedy Director won't take that many risks, as well as the fact that this film will be very different than most superhero picture, breaking the forth wall will need a lot of skill) At least this film is still alive.

Edgar Wright is first pick for me however
