I hope Reynolds gets recasted, honestly Sam Rockwell wouldn't be too bad of a Deadpool. Seriously.

Yeah, yeas hoping I wouldn't hear that again. I forgot he was doing R.I.P.D.

Why would you hope he gets recasted? He was perfect as Wade Wilson.

He was but now he's playing a near perfect Hal Jordan, it bothers me when one actor is playing two iconic characters. Might as well get another actor and Sam Rockwell would be perfect. He plays looney characters to perfection and Deadpool is a looney.

But he's Justin Hammer. May not be as big a character as Hal, but he's an existing character in the Marvel U nonthess. At least Hannibal King won't be in the next Blade (I think). Hammer should be in the next Iron Man.

Lol i doubt there would be another Blade and wow I forgot he played another character hahaha. The guy's all over comic book movies or just make Norton Deadpool interesting take that would be lol.

But yeah I don't know what's going on with the Hammer character but I feel that's a lame role for someone of Rockwell's talent. He really serves no purpose but being funny.

Well cosidering he got screwed by Whiplash, embarrassed by Tony in front of the world at the Strark Expo, then arrested on top of that at the end of IM2, I'd say Hammer will be ready to nail Stark in IM3. (pun intended ) No more dancing and stuff...

He can't do it if the studio won't nail down a director. It can only go so far without a director and the studio just needs to sit down and pick one to move forward.

And no, I don't think they'd "move on without him". He's a relatively well-known star who LOVES the character, who played him before (and is signed on for more already), and his presence will be sure to pull in fans of the character. Reynolds will do everything in his power to do it when it happens, and Fox will want him to be there for it too.

Oh, you mean like how Harrison Ford played both Indiana Jones and Han Solo? Or how about Jack Nicholson playing Jack in The Shining and R.P. McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

But really, you think Deadpool is "iconic"? This might be a problem if the same actor who played Superman was up for Spider-man, but Deadpool is a lesser known comic character from a back corner of the X-men sector of the Marvel Universe. Green Lantern (and Hal Jordan in particular) isn't even especially well known of outside of geek circles.

Also, it doesn't matter if an actor already appeared in a Marvel movie as a different character. It happens more often than you might realize that actors appear in continuities multiple times as different characters. And it especially doesn't matter here, where the X-men movies at Fox are COMPLETELY separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies at Marvel Studios. Reynolds himself has already been Hannibal King in New Line's Blade Trinity in addition to Wade Wilson in Fox's Wolverine.

I don't like the way you quoted me, then added part of Idiotesque's post connected to mine like I said it, without his name in the quote.

I didn't say, nor do I think, they would move on without him in a project that he has publicized so much, expressing his love for it. I also have no issue with actors playing more than one character from the same comic publisher. I love Chris Evans as the Human Torch...I will probably love him as Cap.

Bad comparison you just brought up between the actors you mentioned. Different unrelatable franchises.

And over the years Deadpool has gotten a massive following as a character, he's very popular now, not to a regular person but over the years I think he'll hit a larger audience. This isn't the 90s where Deadpool was an obscure character and Green Lantern is known to anybody who knows comics.

I just find it lame that having an actor playing 2 well known comic book character just kills it. Especially since Reynolds is establishing his humor into Hal Jordan. There are plenty of other great actors suitable for the role.

I used to dislike when actors played multiple characters in comic book movies, but I have become less bothered by it since none of them will ever connect (besides what Marvel is doing).

Ryan Reynolds might play Hal Jordan really well (according to some reports), but he is perfect for Deadpool in my opinion. There is really no other option that is quite as good. Sam Rockwell could probably pull off the acting part, but he is too old and does not have the right physique to pull off the role.

I do not see this moving ahead without RR. Considering he played a big part in writing the movie, putting it together, having played the role on-screen already, and the fact that most fans want him, I would be very surprised if a Deadpool movie happens in the near future without him.

Deadpool's popularity has definitely grown a lot in the past several years, but he is still only known in the comic book circles I think.

It funny sometimes when everybody is unison about an actor playing a role that he was meant to play (e.g. Martin freeman as Bilbo Baggins, trust me its gonna work).

I am not fussed with the Green Lantern film and i have been preying for Hollywood people to get Deadpool film going so that it can get made as its the one comic book film i would love to see.

Ryan Reynolds Praises Deadpool Director Tim Miller

Quote:
While chatting to MTV during the Green Lantern press junket, Reynolds spoke about (now officially signed) Deadpool director Tim Miller as well as explaining that the movie will be "nasty, and hard"..

"I love Tim. Tim is someone who we all vetted through and through. He's a guy who captures the spirit of it, and he's also an incredible visual artist."

"He was also the first guy we met who came up with a huge presentation for it. That was something I hope to able to show you at some point."

"Also, Tim came cheap, which helped as well. In order to do this movie the way we want to do it is pretty nasty, and pretty hard. You can't exactly have a $200 million budget when you want to do a movie like this."

Apparently R.I.P.D is next for Reynolds, then it's on to Deadpool. I for one am just happy that the movie is now looking like it's going to finally happen at least. The script was excellent, here's hoping there won't be too many alterations come shoot time.

Well. That news sounds like Deadpool is happening than many of us though only a few hours ago. There is still that green elephant we are waiting on I suppose, but it looks like the DP movie is happening. Ryan Reynold's excitement for the director gives me confidence.

Uh... Indiana Jones and Star Wars were both iconic Lucasfilm productions.

What does Green Lantern have in common with Deadpool? They're both originally from comic books. Other than that? Nothing. No thematic similarities, completely different tone, completely different characters, and they're not even both superheroes. Green Lantern is a superhero who is really a galactic police officer, while Deadpool is an insane assassin and not truly a hero at all.

But wait. Completely unlike characters in completely unlike stories can't be played by the same actor because they originally appeared in the same medium? How about the Shining and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest? Are you mad that Jack Nicholson did both of those films? Do you realize that they also originally also came from the same medium?

How about when Brandon Routh did Scott Pilgrim after Superman Returns (and before Dylan Dog)? How about Chris Evans doing Scott Pilgrim after Fantastic Four (and before Captain America)? How about the fact that Ryan Reynolds himself has already played Hannibal King and Wade Wilson before going on to do Green Lantern? He was Deadpool before he was Green Lantern and now you're saying he shouldn't return to the character he already did before?
