I can't remember which interview it was in but Lauren Shuler Donner(producer for all the X films) pretty much stated due to all the hate, that the Origins Wolverine movie is not part of the canon anymore. Basically, it didn't happen in connection to all the other films. This Deadpool is a fresh slate, Barakapool never happened.

Yeah, they'll either take the piss out of it (as Reynolds himself did during the panel) or ignore it. Origins is a turd of movie and if everything Fox does from here on out completely ignores it I won't be losing any sleep.

Here's the interview I was talking about.

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=99976

Quote:
Talking to HeyUGuys, Lauren revealed how X-Men: Days Of Future Past would impact the previous films,“Yes, it will be putting that right,” She added “Just forget about X-3! And the first Wolverine; forget about that too!” Given the ending of DOFP, it all makes sense. It completely erases those events of X-Men: The Last Stand from ever happening which leaves our fellow mutants in an interesting place. On Deapool, the producer said, "“We so want to make it. We’re getting there. I think it will, but one thing now is the rating. If we make it a smaller budget movie, we can go for the R-Rating. If not, then we push the boundaries of PG-13 which is alright too. We just don’t want to saturate the market to the point where it’s just not special anymore.” In other words, we won't be getting a Deadpool movie any time soon. last time we heard Ryan Reynolds was attached to the project. Whether or not he's still attached to the project, remains to be seen. What do you guys think? Do you think the MercWithMouth will ever have his own solo film? Leave your thoughts down in the usual place.

As I said in the X-Men: Apocalypse thread: The timeline being altered so much in Days of Future Past may be the answer I was looking for when it comes to Deadpool. Although Deadpool takes place in the present, the events of Days of Future Past have obviously altered the timeline in the past, and the events of the Weapon X program may have developed differently than what we'd seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which means the origin of Wade Wilson/Deadpool might have just happened differently as well. This seems like a valid reason for those that still want X-Men Origins: Wolverine to count for something.

I don't think Continuity will have anything to do with this movie. it will be a foul mouthed R rated comic movie and they will want to keep it as far from the PG-13 X-men series as possible

The tone may very well be different, but it should still be part of the X-Men canon. Especially considering Colossus in it. If this is a totally different Colossus than who we just saw in Days of Future Past, then they are just creating even more conflicting continuity issues.

liked said before. X-3 and Wolverine DO NOT EXIST in their minds. much like how other series retcon out movies as "fantasy"... basically each series will consider themelves an island unto themselves. it's like Lucas saying the EU doesn't exist in his canon. sure people made them, and people loved them for years, but they're shoved to the side anyways and thought of as a curiosity, nothing more

After what happened in DoFP that isn't a continuity issue, Colossus I mean. From the 70's on, anything can happen. It's why we're getting Angel alive in a much earlier decade than when he was in X3. Basically, it's all a fresh start from here on out. It's the Butterfly effect on steroids basically.

Yeah, nevermind, I had forgotten for a second there that the Colossus in the future-tense portion of Days of Future Past might not have ever came to be anyway, because that future was undone by the changes made in the past to the timeline. LOL. What a brain-twister!

No, X3 and Origins still do exist -- even if some do choose to ignore them -- they are just part of an altered timeline/continuity.

The other answer to the continuity issues is just to ignore them, and realize that people didn't care (or notice) that much until much more recently. Now that you have the MCU and a brand new canon for Star Wars (where even books and comics fully "count"), its just not worth trying to rationalize squashing the older stuff in to make contradictions work.

Even in the MCU the Agent Carter short film was part of canon until they were able to make the show, which essentially gives her a similar arc over a season instead of 10 minutes. So it used to count, now it doesn't.

Just don't worry about it and enjoy the movies for what they are.

The trailer was glorious! They even did the same exact crash sequence from the test footage years ago! O_O

So, did that still happen prior to this Deadpool movie?
Seeing how Days Of Future Past ignored Origins, the answer is no.

I'll just keep pretending Origins was a fun "Wolverine's memories" movie and I think this one could end up being quote the surprise hit. Especially since it supposedly only cost $50 million.

They did actually. That first trailer at last year's CC took everyone by surprise and started building to almost impossible expectations, which the film then turned out to meet and for many even surpass.
