It's easy.

Deadpool was Wilson Wade, a character featured in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", fictionally set in 1981. He was turned into "Deadpool". His mutant abilities were not that clear in the movieverse anyway.

I must say his mask just sucks. I don't like it. It looks silly. His costume is terrific, on the other hand.

But I must admit I never liked this character and never understood his appeal. What's so special ??????????

First... are you familiar at all with the actual comic books? I'm not, but a quick google search and official Marvel website browsing show that the character has always sported this film costume almost identically as shown in the comic books... "cosplay mask" and all.

Second... this would mean that the film version which you are referring to from the X-Men film franchise is actually a massive departure from the source material.

Third... this upcoming film has absolutely nothing to do with your continuity issues anyways because it is its own standalone production that is isolated from the X-Men franchise entirely.

1- I know. I'm a massive reader. Still, despite being faithful, the mask looks ugly to me. Seems bad cosplaying. Let's hope it will look better in the trailer.

I'm not going to lie though mate. The continuity posts tend to clog up a lot of space a disrupt the flow of conversations. They're just very long and rarely can anyone really give you any answers and tend to be pretty repetitive. It tend to turn me away from threads.

When I said "**** the continuity," I meant it. This won't fit into the overall XCU, because it will have in-jokes and fourth wall breakage. We may get a cameo here or there, and Deadpool could be in a later X-Force movie, but this is its own thing.

It's okay to me. Hopefully they will not try to make this "Fourth Wall" walking joke fit into the X-Men saga.
If it's 100% standalone, I will surely enjoy it. Despite I still don't "get" the appeal of the character. Maybe it's my fault.

I'm a little disappointed that this will not acknowledge the events of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, too, because despite how they screwed up the Deadpool character, Ryan Reynolds was great as Wade Wilson, prior to his Weapon X transformation. Plus I see no reason why they couldn't come up with the whole reason Deadpool went to this new clandestine group in this Deadpool movie was to "cure" himself from what Stryker and Weapon X did. They could have just corrected the problem and kept the continuity, but again it's just the producers wanting to sweep XO: Wolverine under the rug.

But regardless of this movie not being in continuity, I have a feeling there's going to be at least one joke made about Deadpool's previous appearance in XO. There has to be!

And come on, UniSol -- that costume is dead on!
