Considering how big of a self proclaimed Deadpool fan Reynolds is, for him to say "they got it" speaks quite a bit.

Can't wait

Reese and Wernick on Writing Deadpool
For more, click the link above.

Quote:
"We're outlining it pretty seriously right now," Reese said. "Were in the early stages."

"We just absolutely adore the character and the comic," added Wernick. "And tonally, it's right up our alley. He's the unstable, smart-ass, self deprecating guy — and they say write what you know, so [we're perfect for it]."
Sounds like they are getting it right.

Robert Rodriguez Offered 'Deadpool'

Quote:
We're not big fans of offer stories for obvious reasons. Everyone in Hollywood -- directors, writers and actors -- is offered parts, scripts, meetings, etc., but it's not really news until something happens. From Deadline, THR (more an "in-the-mix story") onto Vulture, this is the world we must all play ball in.

So with that in mind, Robert Rodriguez has been offered to direct "Deadpool" by 20th Century Fox, tipped to us by the latest issue of Production Weekly and confirmed to us by a source very close to the project. It is something he is considering, but that's it at the moment. But perhaps more tellingly, it clearly indicates that Fox is happy with how the "Predators" and "Machete"/ Troublemaker relationship is going so far and this is also indicated by the fact this is the second project in five months they have offered the Austin-based filmmaker (they also offered him the "Planet Of The Apes" reboot and he passed, but they also offered it to at least three other filmmakers too, which illustrates the randomness of an offer story — none of those directors took the gig).

Before you get your pants in a twist, keep in mind this is just an offer. Personally we don't like the idea for myriad reasons that should be obvious considering our feelings about "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and C-list characters, but chiefly because we'd rather see the "Blade Runner" influenced sci-fi film "Nervewrackers" come to the screen and or any original or homegrown Troublemaker projects that have been brewing.

Our bet (hope) is he passes, but that's just a total guess on our part. Is "Deadpool" star Ryan Reynolds still attached? Presumably yes, if they're putting out offers. "Zombieland" writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick penned the "Deadpool" script. The fast-moving Rodriguez shoots "Spy Kids 4: Armageddon" this summer, and then has the Nimród Antal-helmed "Predators" in theaters on July 9 and "Machete" on September 3. Personally, we liked when this information (offers) stayed behind closed doors.

Default Rodriguez Offered Deadpool?

Rodriguez Offered Deadpool?

Quote:
The Deadpool movie may be close to hiring a director.

The Playlist reports that 20th Century Fox has offered the job to writer-director Robert Rodrguez (Desperado, Sin City). This is a project that Rodriguez is considering, but of course, nothing is set in stone.

This is the second offer in five months that Fox has pitched to Rodriguez, preceded by an offer to helm the new Planet of the Apes reboot (which Rodriguez declined). But this could be a telling sign that Fox likes what they see of the director's upcoming film Machete. He also wrote and produced their upcoming Predators sequel.

Ryan Reynolds is presumably still attached to reprise his role as the title character in Deadpool, and Zombieland scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are still hard at work on finishing the screenplay. Currently, Rodriguez plans to shoot Spy Kids 4: Armageddon this summer, and Predators is hitting theaters on July 9th, with the subsequent Machete set for a September 3rd release.

Seems like a decent choice. What say you?

EDIT: CURSE YOU GREENSCAR!!!

He is a very good director and it would be interesting to see what he can do with Deadpool.

I'd guess pg-13 like the majority of comic book movies. Fox likes to go for the kids.

I am guessing it will be rated R. The comic book really lends itself to an R rating and I do not think Deadpool is the type of character that would appeal to youngsters anyway. While Rodriguez is able to do both bloody and kidsy, I think he knows what is appropriate where.

I really think Rodriguez would be a perfect fit for this type of film/character. It can be serious, bloody and full of action. But we'll also need to be laughing our butts off throughout the movie. And I feel like I've seen a Rodriguez flick like this before...

Desperado. Full of action, humor and humorous action. Very entertaining flick. So I think he could pull this off.

It's Fox. They will tone it down and make it PG-13 and ruin this comic book character as well.

I thought Reynolds was out after signing on as Green Lantern? These studios are getting ridiculous. They've already got the Human Torch playing Captain America. At least Green Lantern isn't a Marvel character I guess.

dont worry i heard Fantastic Four is getting a reboot so i doubt Chris Evan will be Human Torch again.
i thought Deadpool was not as kiddy as teh others which is probably why consider Rodriguez.

only downside is that if he does this then Sin City 2 will be further put back
