He doesn't have a CG mask, he has CG *eyes* in some scenes, typically played for comedic effect. They're going to do the same thing with Spiderman next year.

wasn't Tobey Maguire's mask CGI in the original Spider-Man trilogy??

Well I think it looks bad. GL had creepy white zombie eyes that detracted from the look of the character (just as much as the CGI suit), and they're doing it again, even after bashing GL for a cheap laugh.

Why are his eyes white? Are there some kind of lenses built into his mask? If so, do they give him some kind of special vision, like that one scene in The Dark Knight? How do they move like real eyes? And don't say, "It looks like the comics!!1," there needs to be a real-world reason, or else they should just make the whole movie a cartoon.

his eyes are white b/c that's what they are in the comics. it's a mask.

why are Spider-Man's eyes white/silver/whateve color they are??

same thing for Black Panther.....aren't the eyes on his mask black or silver??

Deadpool has one of the most faithful adaptations of a suit to the comics so far in the movies.

you are the only person i think i've seen complaining about any aspect of the suit.

So that he can emote with his eyes. Yes, its "cartoony" but that's what they're going for.

You know when in the Spiderman cartoons his mask eyes will open wide when he's surprised or squint up when he's confused or whatever? That's what they're doing with Deadpool (and the forthcoming MCU Spiderman).

Note: I'm not saying its good or bad, or that I like it (or that you have to like it), I'm just clarifying that its not a "CGI mask."

considering it's not a CGI mask....it looks damn good.

it has the Deadpool "shape" to it.

It feels a bit like it'll be another Scott Pilgrim, I don't know.
There has been no point to advertise this yet. They'd be wasting marketing budget funds in the Star Wars tidal wave that is currently flooding the market. They'll start putting their marketing budget to good use once Star Wars calms down a bit... just when everyone is ready to start asking, "Ok, now that I've seen Star Wars (2 or 3 or more times), what's next?" BAM! DEADPOOL TRAILER! HEADSHOT STRAIGHT TO THE GROIN!!!

They'll be marketing it the same way as Kingsman. Some early screening at the end of January, TV spots and a few trailers and it's become a sleeper hit, taking bits and pieces of money over time that'll all add up. From what I gathered the film only actually cost $30 mill right?

Why should it be real world? It's a comic book movie about a guy who can self heal, talks to the audience, and deals with mutants from the X-Men universe.

But his eyes move. They aren't part of the mask. Spider-Man has fabric or lenses over his eyes, and they don't move in the LA movies. From what little we've seen of Black Panther, it looks like his mask may actually be a helmet.

If I'm the only person complaining, maybe I'm one of a small number of non-comic readers interested in the movie. Not a good sign.

The hero shouldn't have creepy zombie eyes that magically appear and disappear when he takes the mask on and off. It didn't work on GL, and it looks bad here. Doing this with Spider-Man would be a huge mistake. If a fringe character like Deadpool eats it, no big deal. But Spidey in the MCU? Major fail. I hope the Russos don't allow that shit in their movie, and show Marvel it's not the way to go.

It's one of those things that may work in a cartoon or the comics, but doesn't translate well to live action. A good actor can emote through a mask, under make-up, or in a suit anyways.

And I still think it's a CGI mask, or at least heavily augmented. The way it moves so much when he talks is a giveaway.

if you look at ANY Deadpool comic, you'll see he has facial expressions through the mask......yet another example of how they are being faithful to the comic.

OR.....you're the only one that it bothers.

if i were a non-comic reader, the last thing i would do is come into a thread about a comic-book character and start complaining about things taken directly from the source material.

Healing can be explained as a mutation. Magic eyes can't. If it takes place in the X-Men universe, it should be that level of real world. But he looks like a cartoon, as does Colossus (more of a cartoon, anyway).

Him talking to the audience can be a mental disorder. If he appears in an X-Men movie, I hope they call him on it. "Who are you talking to?" In fact, I hope they do like RR's The Voices, and that's just how he sees himself in his own head. If his fancy cartoon mask is really just a shitty hood with some holes cut in it, all is forgiven.

I was thinking the same exact things when the film was announced to have a February release date. Honestly, it worked out pretty well for them.

Also, minor correction: Kingsman had screenings early as December, if I remember correctly.

I can't believe I'm reading someone express serious concern about the appearance of Deadpool's eyes and the need for a legitimate explantion. Then I remember I'm on the internet...

Stop trying to bring logic to Deadpool, seriously, you will drive yoursself insane trying to put 'real world' logic on someone like Deadpool, it's pointless, no matter how realistic the world is, logic and Deadpool will never be a thing.

Second, they really shouldn't do like The Voices, because that was a pretty serious movie, I found no real comedy in the film, Ryan's character was very tragic, plus that isn't how Deadpool is, he's tragic too, but The Voices is way too realistic in terms of tragedy, The Voices is just depressing, Deadpool is trying to be a crowd pleaser. Deadpool is insane, but his mask exists in reality, he really is emoting through his mask and everyone can see it. Also, chances are people will call him out when he talks to us, but it's more along the line that they aren't aware of the story they've been put in, unlike Deadpool, who is so aware that the forth wall might as well go on vacation instead of trying to deal with Deadpool.

Also, they can make fun of Green Lantern because the Green Lantern suit was 100% CGI, meaning Reynolds never wore an actual Green Lantern suit, he never felt like the real Green Lantern. Meanwhile the Deadpool suit is like 3% CGI, only the eyes are CGI, the rest of the suit is real (including the mask), Reynolds wore it, loved it, and the cast and crew actually saw it worn during filming (by Reynolds and stunt men). The CGI is used when needed, because Deadpool is going to be wearing the mask throughout most of the film, they needed a way to convey emotion, and what better way to do that than using the same technique the comics use, moving eyes.

By the sound of your post clearly you have never actually read a Deadpool comic...if he didn't break the forth wall and talk to the audience then it would not be ...Deadpool .. the healing factor is not a mutation (i won't spoil it for you) ...you got some time you should read the books, you would enjoy the movie more ....you can get a good start from the TBP Deadpool Classics ... the Deadpool annual 98 has his origin story you should read it as it looks like we will get ajax in the movie as well !!!
