No, Reynolds is still on. The thing is FOX is still working on other X-Men Origins films. They also have X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2, First Class, and then Deadpool. Originally, there was going to be an X-Men Origins: Magneto but I guess it's dead now.

Maybe, but this is not the big franchise that is X-Men or Wolverine. I'm betting on a much smaller budget than Wolverine, easily below $60M. I also think the writers and Ryan Reynolds want to do it right. As to whether they would be fine making it PG-13, I don't know. Then again, you might be right; it is Fox.

i just hope the part about reynolds not being confirmed to return is just b/c he hasn't signed a contract yet.

i'd love for him to take on a whole movie as the character!!

No way Ryan Reynolds doesnt do this movie. I have faith it wil be well done with Zombieland writers and hopefully they make it R to keep true to the character.

And Daredevil was PG-13 when FOX released it.

It'll probably be just like Daredevil, PG-13, then a director's cut.

Hmm, I think, we'll see how Predators and Machete get on, If Robert Rodriguez has enough pulling power for those two then he should be allowed an R rated film. They are both released by Fox, and if he proves his name has power to pull people to the theatre, then he should be allowed to do his version of the movie (probably depending upon the budget)

I haven't read a lot of Deadpool. Is it a Mature title? Does the subject material scream R Rated?

I just do not imagine there is a huge market of young kids who will want to see Deadpool. There is not much reason, financially, to lower the rating for people who will not be seeing the movie.

Then again, I was surprised when there were more than a dozen kids under the age of 10 when I saw Watchmen.

not really. i mean its just a regular title, its not a MAX (Marvel's R-equivalent comic rating) title. theres not really anything that couldnt be in a PG-13 movie.

As long as blood doesn't squirt on the camera when he kills people it can be PG-13

True, The Dark Knight was pretty dark and there was a lot of brutal killing. Nolan did a really good job of not making the quick cuts obvious; I think there is only one that I always think 'he is cutting away from the violence for the sake of cutting away from the violence'. But this isn't that thread.

To me, Deadpool has always been pretty bloody and violent, as well as crude with language. I would definitely accept a PG-13 movie over no movie, but I think I would enjoy an R rating. You might be right, Diesel, about a PG-13 theatrical with an R home video.

Still not enough blood in TDK it didn't need to be over the top but it could have been given a bit more

No one bats an eye when Hannibal King is cast as Wade Wilson, but later, when Wade Wilson is cast as Hal Jordan, people don't want him to return as Wade Wilson?

How does that make any sense?

So long as the films aren't taking place in the same continuity, it doesn't matter at all. And even if they WERE, it STILL wouldn't matter much. Go have a View Askiew movie marathon sometime. Hell, in JUST Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, you have MULTIPLE actors playing MULTIPLE different characters... not to mention all of the OTHER characters those same actors played in other films set in the same Universe. Brian O'Halloran was in every film that Jay and Silent Bob were in, playing a different character in each one (except Clerks, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, and Clerks II where he played the same character).

And I think I flew into a tirade in another topic about Stan Lee. The dude has appeared in practically every Marvel adaptation yet, playing an ostensibly different innocent bystander in each one. Either that, or Willy Lumpkin REALLY gets around the Marvel Film Universe. But even then, Stan Lee platyed Willy Lumpkin in the first Fantastic Four movie and HIMSELF in Fantastic Four 2. Tell me that makes sense. Just deal with it. In reality, films don't have linked continuity unless they say they do. You can't assume Blade Trinity takes place in the same world as X-men or Green Lantern Fantastic Four or Captain America or The Losers.

What.

Of course there is. Bloody violence, while not exactly necessary in an adaptation, is present in the comics. There is PLENTY in the comics that would NEVER be allowed in a PG13 film. They probably could make it work as a PG13 film, but really, basically ANY comic contains things that could never be in a PG13 film.

Relax. No need to get your panties all bunched up!

Nobody said that they didn't want Reynolds to reprise the role as Deadpool. And why would it be the end of the world if he didn't? How many Batman's have we had? There is apparently a shortage of actors in Hollywood that can play a super hero. You talk about "not making sense", yet you obviously think it makes sense to have an actor play the lead role of two comic book characters back to back? Reynolds was primed to star in n Deadpool then signed on to do Green Lantern which he is filming at the moment. It's a simple observation. Chill out! BTW... comparing Stan Lee's two-second cameos in movies of characters he created is hardly the same as a lead role. So is comparing Clerks to a $150 million+ comic book franchise. So maybe YOU should deal with it.

Not much came from Lauren Shuler Donner’s words on Deadpool other than the good news that Ryan Reynolds is still intimately involved with the project and is keeping in touch with the writers, despite his increasingly busy schedule now that he’s also playing Green Lantern for Warner Bros. and has multiple other projects in development.

While there’s nothing concrete yet on scheduling or who’s helming the project, Donner says they hope to get working on it next year, which means we’d likely be seeing Deadpool in theaters in 2012, possibly sharing the summer season with Wolverine 2.

On the director front, star Ryan Reynolds half-jokingly shared his interest in having Quentin Tarantino helm the Deadpool movie months ago but according to a recent report, an offer went out to Robert Rodriguez, a perfect substitute for Tarantino. We don’t know if the offer’s been accepted, but if he does sign up, we can expect big things from this project knowing that Reynolds is starring and that Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are penning the Deadpool script.
