Jesus, it's like you didn't pay attention to anything going on in that movie.

He followed up his statement with "Actually, Artoo has been known to make mistakes... from time to time" because he saw the look on Leia's face. He was trying to comfort her because he realized that what he said only served to make her worry more. How is that not clear?

Again, you need to follow the movie. He was giving the odds of successfully navigating an asteroid field because he was nervous and concerned for his own well-being. That they survived against nearly insurmountable odds is kinda the point - it's a testament to the abilities of Han and Chewie.

You're somehow missing the point of yet another scene. It's not about how unreliable technology is, or about not trusting technology - it's about Luke embracing the force and trusting in his own (thus far mostly latent) abilities.

What about it? Do you even know what point you're trying to make anymore, or are you just hoping that people will see the wall of text and opt out of responding?

How about the artist formerly known as genesim missing the point of yet another scene? It's not about how unreliable technology is, or about not trusting technology - it's about Luke embracing the force and trusting in his own (thus far mostly latent) abilities.

Uh oh, I got a stalker, and he ain't letting go! Keep quoting with your bad self.

And with that the OT apologist will make more and more excuses.

When C3PO makes the mistake it is comfort. When it happens in the prequels it is gospel. I understand the movies perfectly, Tarkin trusted in his invention too much and didn't listen to his commanders. A classic military superiority mistake. Which as history shows, is trusting too much in the technology. Perhaps it is you that needs to take a few classes.

By the way, as a side note, that Artist formerly known as BS was a pretty pathetic move. I never did understand that...and him shaving slave in the side of his head. Prince signed the same deal as Madonna, but Prince didn't sell. It is kinda like here, you don't get the response you like so you throw a little quoting tantrum and bring up personal names instead of sticking to the debate.

Translation: I have no response to the facts presented, so I will mock, accuse, and generally do anything I can to take the spotlight off of the reality that I just accidentally revealed just how little I actually know about what happens in the OT.

I think George Lucas deals in very broad archetypes & myths. He clearly doesn't care about logic so much as throwing in everything he'd like to see in a movie. I, for one, am all for his approach even when he completely and utterly misses the mark of his aim. It's still charming to me. To be bothered with the 'died of a broken heart' business is to kind of totally misread what he's attempting to do. It doesn't need to make logical sense in the context of the movie. It needs to make emotional/poetic sense. You can argue that it doesn't even achieve that, but that's another issue...

In line with this, to try and pin down logic to any character motivations, particularly C-3PO- who is part Stan Laurel and part Kurosawa peasant- and not see him as the more human than human worry-wart that his is, is to totally miss the joy of the character.

So, the problem is that some people take the ideas in the Star Wars saga too literally?

Oh you got me there! Now are we done, or are you going to stalk me more? I gave you attention, and you said your part. Now can you get on with it?

@happydood I never take C3PO seriously and he is an annoying fellow, but one that has merit. I even enjoyed him in the prequels.

The point I was making, was not a dig at the OT, but rather the fact that some people take a much harsher stance from a pompous attitude that wreaks of fanboyism and more importantly seeing things through rose colored glasses.

What I find comical is how some latch onto everything I say. I say Leia is hotter/younger and it is one of the reasons I appreciate the first film more, so therefore that is all I said?

Same with the C3PO comment. To understand the 6 Star Wars movies is to understand Lucas attitude of abusing power and having too much trust in delivery system no matter what it is. Truly ironic when you consider Lucas own abuses, but alas I take the 6 movies for what they are. Good fun, and not needing to much thinking to enjoy them.

For some, if you have that attitude, it is worthy of slanderous attacks and even to the point of stalking and trying to get someone kicked off a board? Pure idiocy, but that won't stop some people.

With all that said, I just got the SiverScreen edition, and I can't wait for some dual layer discs to come in tomorrow. I LOVE the despecialized edition, and I am looking forward to the real thing now.

Debbie Reynolds died of a stroke that was brought on by stress and grief. They have a cause of death that was medically determined: stroke.

In the case of Padme, there was no medical phenomenon that took her life. They made a point of saying that she was perfectly healthy, which means nothing was happening with her heart. (You don't describe someone experiencing heart failure as completely healthy, medically-speaking.) They wouldn't be confused if her heart was failing - they would know why they were losing her.

I don't know how many different ways I can say the same thing...

Yeah, there's a reason he was given the stanky boot before when he used to post under the name genesim. After looking back over some of those old posts, it seems nothing's changed but his username.

Has the original unaltered theatrical version of The Phantom Menace ever been released on any physical home release?

In Episode IX, I think that either they could show a portrait of Leia and have a character glance at it sadly, or they could recreate her in the form of a hologram, in an attempt to hide the CG effect.

Gonna be more difficult to replicate General Leia's raspy voice than her younger version.

No shit, Sherlock! Congratulations - you've established that the droids had the capability to do a midichlorian count. So what? What difference does that make?

In Star Wars, one would think that if something is inexplicable by conventional means then it is at least suggested that the Force may have had something to do with it.

We have every reason to believe that, because of the nature of the Force and the fact that they are droids. These things are said and shown in the movies. What's not in the movies? These "Force droids" you seem to be thinking of.

And what they say is that they cannot explain what is happening.

My comment was directed at a poster who claimed the droids could be wrong, which would render the author's inclusion of the dialogue pointless.

Do you think they will release a 40th anniversary edition this year? Especially with the new film coming out?
