Apropos. Here's my placeholder, which honestly, considering Trevorrow is at the helm, might as well be the actual title:

It doesn't hurt that it's part of a line from Return of the Jedi.

I have appreciated the discussion and would much rather do that. We are all fans, so I say argue feverishly if needed just stay away from the digs that we all know we do to some degree.
Sure. We can make peace like The Godfather, or be like Donnie Brasco and say "Fuhget about it."

Even though The Force Awakens is three words I think it's more similar to The Empire Strikes Back because both titles are complete sentences in the present tense, which no other Star Wars titles are.

But it kind of ruins the ending of Return of the Jedi. Luke got his all of students killed between the movies and he is again in the same situation. Luke failed.

Episode IX: The Revenge of Jar Jar.
After suffering decades of ridicule and disrespect, Jar Jar Binks turns to the dark side. With the help of his Jar Jar Clones, he slaughters all the rebels and becomes the new emperor (and wears a hooded robe). Then there's a 30 minute light saber duel between Luke and Jar Jar. An epic finish to an epic saga!

Nah, there is one thing I know, the Jedi council can find their. ....with two hands and a flashlight.

Failure is relative. Luke is allowed to make mistakes after all he did for the rebellion. His story we don't really know yet. Depression is a bummer, and it stands to reason that things wouldn't have stayed hunky dory.

That's what I was hearing in my head when I read it. That got me thinking. So now I'm going call it: "Episode IX: Our Last Hope". Then "Episode X: No, There Is Another"

Luke's kind of a pacifist by the end of ROTJ. He defeats the Empire by refusing to kill Anakin. Then Anakin sees him getting electrocuted, thinks, "Well, I've killed about 3 billion people by now, one more old man won't hurt..." and he chucks Palpatine into a nuclear reactor or something.

Luke failed
Leia failed
Han failed
Wedge failed
Lando failed
Mon Mothma failed
Ackbar failed

The farce awakens destroyed the "happy" ending.

They didn't fail, they won the battle but not the war. Worked for me because I don't believe in "happy endings" and the conclusion of Return of the Jedi was more about the end of Palpatine and the redemption of Vader, not the defeat of the Empire. That's why the galaxy-wide celebration at the end of the Special Edition is dumb because they only killed Palpatine and Vader while blowing up the second Death Star not unlike the end of A New Hope. All these years in my head canon I always knew the Empire probably survived with some numbers and while not as great to rule the galaxy eventually there would be another uprising of sorts. You can never extinguish evil and the ideology that justifies it completely and if you think that way you only deal in absolutes, Sith.

The Empire lost the war. There was no one to lead them.
The Emperor died, his enforcer died. The royal guard died.
They lost the Death Star. They lost the Super Star Destroyer.
They lost a lot of Star Destroyers. Countless TIE Fighters, Stormtroopers.

Yeah, a few pockets may have survived, but they were decimated.

I doubt that it's going to be red in the opening crawl of the actual film. You are honestly getting really hung up on silly things. First the number of words in the title (which the way in which that lined up with the previous films was likely just a coincidence), and now the color of the SW logo.

They likely made it red to make it stand out from the Force Awakens promotional materials.

You just aren't used to it because with the exception of the original film (A New Hope - which mainly had a logo in white text in a different font than what we now associate with Star Wars in most instances
[Show spoiler]
), the "STAR WARS" logo wasn't really front and center in the original promotional materials of the other films.

With Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, in the original posters and so forth, those respective titles were big, with "Star Wars" in very small text, stylized around the design of those titles, neither of which were in yellow:

[Show spoiler]

And this Return of the Jedi poster has all of the title text in red:

[Show spoiler]

Then with the prequels, the main emphasis was on the episode numbers, with "Star Wars" and the respective titles being smaller:

[Show spoiler]

Even most of the home video releases over the years in various formats never had the Star Wars logo in a straight yellow color. The closest is gold with varying tones, and the one VHS tape that has the title of the original film, "Star Wars," in yellow, but in the font from the original poster, and not the more familiar font. (note the pic of the CBS/FOX VHS release of the original film with a red logo)...

[Show spoiler]

Even Rogue One focused in on the "Rogue One" title mostly:

[Show spoiler]

Apparently Disney, at least for the main saga episodes, instead of going the route that Lucas/Fox went with for the original films or prequels, has decided to go with the Star Wars title being large, with the individual movie title being in smaller white text in between "Star" and "Wars." Since the logos for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi would otherwise look very similar given this design choice, they changed the color of the Star Wars logo to make them stand apart.

Don't forget that the teaser trailer for TESB used blue logos as well...
