They made Lucas gobs and gobs of money, so I'm sure he'd say pretty good.

Plus regardless of what some fans feel about them, the movies are popular.

You say Lucas has milked the films but it's not entirely clear how you think he's done that.

At first it sounded like milking meant throwing out release after release after release but now it sounds like milking means withholding releases.

It's hard to tell what your complaint actually is.

If you've ever been to an official Star Wars convention, and I've been to two including the one in Orlando this last August, you would find the VAST majority of people who dress in costume are dressed as characters from the PT and not the OT. Make of that what you will.

The variety of characters and costumes in the PT lend it's self more to costuming.

Especially Queen Amidala's wardrobe. Which is one of the most amazing aspects of the PT. Especially in TPM.

There were only 2 releases on DVD. The second came after the first was sold out and out of print.

Yeah the OT costumes are basically a Toga Party, especially for the ladies.

Very popular. They stand as one of the biggest letdowns in cinema history but they still have fans. They're controversial and divisive.

The PT is its own trilogy... I don't really mind it. Anyone can simply say no to watching them or buying them. It's when the PT rears its ugly head in the OT that it becomes unacceptable for me.

Guess you're just gonna have to say no to this BD set, then?

Not commenting on the "milking" part, I buy what I feel like buying and haven't bought every single one, but this isn't nearly how many releases there have been.

I'm not an expert, but I've bought quite a few. I'm sure someone has a better, more complete list - there have been many more than "three times" on home video.

VHS:

Original Releases (P/S)
At least one if not more re-releases in the later 80's (P/S)
Early 1990's Box Set (Letterboxed)
Another re-release of the originals (P/S - I don't believe the LBX ones were ever released individually)
SE box set (P/S)
SE box set (Lbx)

LASER:
Original Releases (P/S)
Later 80's Release (LBX)
Definitive Edition Box Set Early 90's (LBX)
Individual Laser Releases ("Faces" editions) (LBX, and was there also a P/S?)
SE's

I know I'm missing some there...but the films have appeared on Home Video much more than just three or four times.

Missing the THX "faces" set, which was also released on VHS my only set on VHS (that wasn't copied off of HBO, etc) where the marketing blurb truthfully said that it would be the last time the original cuts would be released on home video. They should be lauded for being true to their word and not going back on that.

Letterbox and P/S shouldn't really count as separate versions since they're usually released at the same time and definitely not aimed for the same person to buy both

Except it wasn't the last time.

If you want to count the non-anamorphic unaltered and un-remastered released as a bonus set from the second DVD release, I guess that's your opinion.

It isn't any less non-anamorphic, unaltered and unremastered than the others listed.

Unlike the others, it was sold WITH a full set of movies that WERE remastered, altered, and anamorphic.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but the complete saga is available from Barnes and Noble for about the same price as amazon (actaully fiddy cents cheapah) and includes free express mail delivery (1-3 days) for B&N club/card members. Just a heads up for the book reading kids who don't want to pay for amazon's shipping or waiting for their 'free' delievery to actually get put in the mail.

Im sure on release day there will be plenty of places with good prices on this. I have an Amazon set pre-ordered but I will grab it at my local BB or wherever if they are within a few bucks.

It doesn't change the fact one iota that the release that was advertised as the last one featuring the original, un-fiddled trilogy really wasn't.
