Yes, I know some people buy into the post hoc analysis which is "her eyes were open! she clearly knew her mother!!" I have no problem if you're one of them, it's just illogical. I don't care what her midichlorian count is.

Regarding Luke/Ben/Anakin's lightsaber, the dialogue again necessarily implies that Ben and Anakin discussed the lightsaber and that Anakin wanted his son, Luke, to have it. Your question "why wouldn't he want him to have it?" is irrelevant, but obviously as shown in the movies, he didn't even know he had a kid, so how would he possibly get to make that decision?

If you think that we have "established canon" for that, so be it. I guess I slept through that part of the prequels where Anakin met his son, then told Ben he wanted Luke to have his lightsaber, all before Ben killed him.

You don't have problems with what I see are inconsistencies, and that's fine. I'm not trying to convince you to see my point (unlike what you're trying to do). I do think it's funny, however, that some Star Wars fans have an answer for everything, no matter how many twists and turns are required to get that answer. Of course, Lucas provided such fans with an out for everything: the whole "certain point of view" thing.

As for the dramatic and expeditious decline in technology, etc., I know, I know. I hear the same line from every Star Wars fan who has an answer for everything.
There are inconsistencies in every film or series ever made. At some point ya gotta just roll with it. I hear what you're saying and there are some items that dont quite line up. That doesnt make the films and saga any less enjoyable. As much as fans try to talk their way out of the inconsistencies, the non-fans do the oppposite - they dig through every line and scene trying to find something wrong so they can chest-thump about it. Both are annoying to some degree. Im a huge SW fan but Im not above seeing the issues that the films have. On the other hand, I still think its the best thing ever. Thats that.

For the record, Anakin knew he had a child at least. She(Padme) made him aware of that while he was still normal. Granted, he did not know the sex of the child. As for the light saber thing - you are correct. However, keep in mind that Ben is trying to get Luke to pursue his destiny so that means he might have skewed the truth a little bit(like the father being murdered by Vader thing) and brought up that Lukes Dad wanted him to have the light-saber as to provoke Lukes interest in it. Just a thought.

Hey I hear ya, and I am not one of those who tries to search for things to ***** about -- those items I pointed out are just things I noticed while re-watching ANH and ESB this weekend. It's a little distracting, but it certainly doesn't ruin the movies (PT or OT) for me.

While Anakin knew he was going to have a child, he had no idea he actually had one born. He was told that he killed Padme when he choked her; he choked her before she gave birth.

You gotta just learn to ignore the posts taking anti-establishment positions just for the sake of being anti-establishment.

As for the Wampa scene, I don't mind the new scene at all. But I love the original as it terrified me as a kid! They didn't show the whole thing, just it's lower body as it walked right? It really made you feel like Luke had no time as it could have been anywhere.
I'm with you. The original wampa scene terrified me as a kid. It still kind of does to this day. Just watching that furry lower half lumber toward Luke that slowly really induces some dread and tension.

But the SE scene's wampa just looks like an over-trained extra in a suit, especially after its arm is sliced off. Looks like he's screaming "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!" in wampa.

I still think they should include all versions of every film. They've done that with many blu-ray sets. Look at the Alien Anthology - even though I hate the 3rd and 4th films I have to give them credit that they did NOT fock around with this set. It is the defacto, ultimate edition of the Alien films. You cannot get better or get more. Each film, each version, tons of extras, etc, etc.

That is the RIGHT way to release a true Box set. As an example of what NOT to do: LOTR screwed up when they didnt just releases a 6 or 7 disc mega set last time around. Dumb.
I think you and I agree. I am all for cleaning up the original films so that they have the best possible presentation, and I also would like to see both verisons (special eds and the Originals) offered on the discs. Its the right thing to do, no doubt.

As far as LOTR, I think that particular franchise fell victim to bad timing (they need to have SOMETHING to coincide with the Hobbit's relases) and technological limitations of the format at the time. The extended editions will probably be two disc affairs (like the dvd) making seemless branching impossible. However, incuding the theatrical editons on a seperate disc would be nice, so we can argue that. But I think with LORT it is a different situation as most prefer the extended editions and the theatrical verisons are NOT being held back from release like Star Wars. Besides, we all knew they were/are going to release the extended edtions of those movies. Kinda like the Harry Potter films if you know what I mean?

But we agree I think.

The movies are already 95% restored and cleaned. GL would just need to take scenes from the UOT that were changed for the SE and give them good treatment and present both. It doesn't seem to be a lot of work or cost too much money, especially for a very rich company that was built around this movie.

I hope they don't go overboard with DNR :/ although I don't expect the OT to look super sharp, because of the boucing down of film (different generations of film) that they had to do to do all the VSFX back then. EPII and EPIII should look super sharp though, they're completely digital.

Parents must have dropped you a few times, huh? Got a couple screws loose...couple beers short of a 6-pack? Guess we all know what happens to crack babies.

Oh, and yeah, you were totally proven right. No one in the OT ever EVER held a saber with one hand.

It was just a big hole that looked like the female sex with a couple of tentacles before. Both changes were improvements in my eyes.
Actually, it was one of the things that the Jawas were riding. Good to know I was right in what it was called.

I was going to put that his parents are still trying to get an abortion, but figured that would be too mean. Guy is too stupid to get it anyway. Besides, I think it is meaner to encourage the guy and give him false hope.

Oh! Any pics of Padme in carbonite?

Yep. You can actually see the scene of C-3PO doing that in the second major Empire Strikes Back trailer. The one that used actual footage from the film, rather than just the still pictures of the characters. Always wanted to see that footage. And hopefully that's included in the deleted scenes.

If you don't want to wait, check out the "Building Empire" doc on YouTube. Absolutely the best documentary I've seen on the movie. The one for A New Hope is even better.
