I could be wrong but I was under the impression that 20th Century Fox owned the distrobution rights to the Star Wars movies. So if the movies were rereleased it would be Fox's call. Somebody on here probably know more about the legalities than I do but I think that Fox can repackage and release the movies whenever they want.

What amazes me is every time I come to this forum, there are many more posts on this thread and nothing new has been said. Do you people have any other interests in your lives? Really, I like Star Wars a lot too, but geez louise.
And in regards to how many times Star Wars has been released: Lucas waited a long time to release SW on DVD. After he started though, he dropped VHS like a chunk of plutonium. Ep. 3 is the only Star Wars movie that was NOT released on VHS, basically disfranchising VHS owners. |

This is how i see it:
Lucas will release these to Blu on 9/16. Starting in 2012 he will release each one in 3d over the course of 6yrs one new one every February. The home Blu releases of these will probably happen in july/august. I think Lucas will release these individually as 2d/3d Blu that is where the individual releases for these movies will come in. With minimal new features except for behind the scenes and discussion of the process involved in converting said episode. There will be a mega set the full definitive collections released after ROTJ-3D This is how i think it might be if he continues to release these after 9/16 |

If I am not mistaken, he made this deal when he went into making the PT. The thing was that Lucas could have distributed any new Star Wars movies through any studio that he wanted. But he made some deal with Fox that had them distributing the PT (which of course meant HUGE money for them), while allowing him to take on ownership of the OT films with Fox still distributing them. |

DVD was MORE than affordable by 2005 and players could often be gotten for less than $50 In 2005 pretty much every major retailer was dropping VHS. Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Circuit City ALL were exciting the VHS business by Sep. 2005. Knowing ALL that what POSSIBLE reason could Lucas have to release EP3 on VHS? Aside from pleasing the few thousand people who hadnt adopted DVD. I am willing to bet the cost of producing those VHS tapes would have exceeded the sales revenue. http://money.cnn.com/2005/06/13/news...0/walmart_vhs/ Lucas didn't screw VHS owners over, retail did. |

I like that too, however if that was the 'Complete Saga Edition', shouldn't it have a couple of prequel pics on it? It seems somewhat plain. |

Don't forget the 2004 gold box, instead of silver, that contained IV-VI in full screen.

![]() Or the back cover maybe, otherwise I am not buying that this is the 'Complete Saga' and it would not make any sense leaving off pics from the other trilogy as it would cause some confusion. So for now I will assume that this is a photoshop job. |

For one, since the OT films can't be seamless branched, it would require more blu-ray discs than what's included. |

Badump dah!
lol seriously, though. How many times are 'regular' movies re-released in the same packaging that you never recognize? Sometimes I wish Lucas would release the inferior original cuts just to shut up the trolls and milk them with the 1997 THX edition. Then again with the 1981 "Ep IV title crawl version". Then again with the 1977 'plain ol Star Wars' version knowing that some of these suckers couldn't resist their nostalgia induced fanaticism pleasing purchases. ![]() But then I recall that 1) I get a lot of entertainment from them and 2) they'll find something else to whine about - most likely they'd want upgraded SFX but original cut/content aka "salad bar" purists. |
