Encoded bitrate doesnt tell you anything about the source im afraid.

Where are you getting this info about a 4k transfer? I was under the impression that since the visual effects for the Special Editions were only done at 1080p that a 4k transfer was impossible...

Yeah, but Lucas doesn't seem to actually care much about the UOT, so he has less of a vested interest in how that is released than he does his 'definitive visions' of the movies. Plus I would hope that by now he would be aware of the criticism over the technical errors of the 2004 versions of the OT (which are completely separate from the UOT vs. Special Edition Additions debate) and would hopefully I want to correct those.

Am I the only one person dissapointed with extras on 9th disc of Complete Saga?

Only four of them (A Conversation with the Masters, The Making of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back: SPFX and Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi) looks interesting to me, and the rest feels like really desperate move to fill the disc space.

I mean come on, this is the first complete edition of SW, also on Blu-ray, so I thought it's going to be something really special. Extra discs for OT and PT looks fine to me, but this bonus ninth disc is really nothing more than a bonus.

Exactly, and also nothing about the quality. Some movies looks stunning at 15 Mbps, and others mediocre at 25 Mbps.

and from the digitalbits

Quote:Anyway... a LOT of you have asked additional follow-up questions about Fox's Star Wars Saga Blu-ray announcement from yesterday, so we've passed them on to Fox. When they respond, we'll let you know. In the meantime, our sources tell us that the films are indeed the "special edition" versions of the films. Are there additional SE changes to them? Possibly. Certainly, we've heard that Episode I will now feature the digital version of Yoda seen in II and III.

Just had my first good look at the cover for the complete saga. Very romantic. I can see that on a Hallmark card. Definitely making a custom.

Or the early episode of the Simpsons when Bart is waiting for his spy camera to arrive in the mail. Everyday he would ask the fe-mailman, "Where's my spy camera? Where's my spy camera? Where's my spy camera?"

Time to temper my PQ expectations, I suppose. If it's the SE transfers, it ain't gonna be Blade Runner.

How exactly do you get that from what they posted on The Bits?

Unlike the last DVD release, Lucas actually had time to oversee these personally.

He was busy with Revenge Of The Sith the last time. So didn't have as much time to focus on the DVD release of the OT.

Overall: 5/5
You're giving a 5/5 for the Movie segment, i.e. every installment, both original and prequel, are pretty much perfect?

I have to agree with you. Can't really draw a conclusion at all from that quick blurb from the bits. Regardless, they are converting the films to 3D so chances are very good they did new transfers of all the films and are using those for the Blu Rays. This is just where the press release on Tuesday came up short. All they needed to do was say "Brand New Transfers!" or "Remastered in High Def!" and this whole argument would be done and over.

"Impressive...most impressive."

Seriously though, has there been any actual confirmation of this?

Why confused? Movie ratings are based on personal opinion. Go look up a 5 star movie review on the main page and I bet you can find one person on a forum who hated it. That's the beauty of movies, one mans garbage is anothers treasure.
