Agreed. The CGI in ROTS was better. AOTC looks like a very well done animated series/film in many places. I still can't believe some of those shots ended up in a live-action film.

Oh, come on they could do something like this:

I don't think I ever understood why he made the Clones CG in the first place. Has he ever explained himself?

Not that I'm aware of. I think he did it just to see if they could make it work. He was obviously satisfied with the results. To me, they've always looked fake in AOTC. If he didn't want to use that many extras in suits, I wish he would have at least put a number of men in suits and then used the computer to replicate them and increase their number. Similar to what he did with the Wookiees in ROTS, if I remember correctly.

Rob Coleman of ILM tried to get Lucas to have at least one or two actors in Clonetrooper suits during the making of Attack of the Clones. Lucas wasn't going for it. He felt that ILM could pull it off.

Technically, Lucas was right. It's just that he was right three years later with Revenge of the Sith. The Clonetroopers in that film are practically flawless.

See, Clones suffers from two things; first, it was shot with first generation digital cameras. Second, ILM was not technically ready for the amount of work and the sophistication of said work for Episode II.

By being shot with those first generation cameras, ILM's work looks more flawed. If Lucas would've had a much more balanced approach with models and CG in Episode II, like Episode I, I think the results of how that film looks would've been different.

I say that but also have to acknowledge that Episode II had more model work than Episode I. But, the expansion of the digital backlot was increased big time for Episode I, in comparison to Episode I.

Deleted scenes list.
I really not understand why Tatooine in episode 2 is the only location that not include deleted scenes section.
Because we have some great stuff here and Tatooine brings my feeling so close of the Original Trilogy... I would love to see more Tatooine and more lars/beru/padme relationship in the homestead.
The list is actually incomplete (as said on TFU). Could the Tatooine scenes be the missing part?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
108 - EXT. TATOOINE, HOMESTEAD, COURTYARD (FULL MOON) - NIGHT

PADMÉ is pacing the courtyard restlessly. She stops, listening to the animal HOWLING nearby. She shivers slightly, then turns and goes into the garage at the side of the courtyard.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
109 - INT. TATOOINE, HOMESTEAD - GARAGE (FULL MOON) - NIGHT

PADMÉ enters the garage where C-3PO sits working.

C-3PO
Hello, Miss Padmé.

PADMÉ
Hello, Threepio.

C-3PO
You can’t sleep?

PADMÉ
No, I have too many things on my mind, I guess.

C-3PO
Are you worried about your work in the Senate?

PADMÉ
No, I’m just concerned about Anakin. I said things... I’m afraid I may have hurt him. I don’t know. Maybe I only hurt myself. For the first time in my life, I’m confused.

C-3PO
I’m not sure it will make you feel any better Miss Padmé, but I don’t think there’s been a time in my life when I haven’t been confused.

PADMÉ
I want him to know I care about him. I do care about him.

C-3PO
Don’t worry about Master Annie. He can take care of himself. Even in this awful place.

PADMÉ stands looking at a speeder parked in the garage. Short silence. Then:

C-3PO
Please don't leave us, Miss Padmé. These people need your help.

THREEPIO is parked in a corner.

PADMÉ
I'm not leaving, Threepio. I just can't sleep.

C-3PO
That's something I cannot relate to. As a Protocol Droid, I'm either active or inactive. There's no in-between.

PADMÉ
I guess you're lucky.

C-3PO
Do you really think so..? I suppose I shouldn't expect...

PADMÉ
You're not happy here?

C-3PO
Oh, I'm not unhappy... and my masters here are so kind I wouldn't wish to trouble them, it's just... being like this... well, it's embarrassing.

PADMÉ
Being like what?

C-3PO
Naked. If you pardon the expression. You see, when Master Annie made me, he never quite found the time to give me any outer covering. It's so humiliating. How would you like it if you had to go around with all your circuits showing?

PADMÉ
I guess I wouldn't like it at all.

C-3PO
Of course you wouldn't. Nobody would. It's simply not protocol.

PADMÉ looks thoughtfully at a pile of spare parts and bits of metal and tools.

PADMÉ
Maybe we can do something about it.

C-3PO
I don't think so. Only Master Annie...

PADMÉ
Why not? They seem to have a box of old coverings here.

C-3PO
Oh? How observant of you, Miss Padmé. Of course, I'm just not mechanically minded... if you see what I mean.

PADMÉ picks up a piece of metal and holds it against him.

PADMÉ
Let's see, if we put this... here...

C-3PO
Ooooh! That's tickles.

PADMÉ
You'll have to be quiet, Threepio. Hold still, please.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXT. TATOOINE, DESERT, HOMESTEAD MOISTURE FARM - DAY
(sc. 115, 2nd draft version; removed from 3rd draft)

All is quiet. BERU comes out of the house. She goes to a moisture line and starts to draw water.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
INT. TATOOINE, HOMESTEAD, GARAGE - DAY
(sc. 116, 2nd draft version; removed from 3rd draft)

PADME fixes the last piece of covering onto THREEPIO.

PADME
There!

PADME stands back. OWEN is with her. They look at THREEPIO. He isn't the golden figure we know because PADME has had to use whatever stuff she could find in the garage. He is multi-coloured in several textures, but he is complete.

C-3PO
Um. How do I look?

OWEN
Great! You look perfect.

C-3PO
Perfect? Oh, Miss Padme, I'm so happy!
(extending his hand to shake hers)
Oh, pardon me.

THREEPIO drops his hand and bows formally.

THREEPIO
(continuing)
Thank you.

He forgets formality and hugs her. PADME hugs him back, laughing.

C-3PO
(continuing)
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

OWEN
(grinning)
Well, Padme, I think he should be yours from now on... I know that is what my Mom would want.

C-3PO
Oh, my!

Then suddenly, from outside:

BERU (V.O.)
Come topside, everybody! He's back! He's back!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
125 - INT. TATOOINE MOISTURE FARM, KITCHEN - MORNING - DAY

PADMÉ prepares some food for Anakin. Beru helps her.

BERU
What's it like there?

PADMÉ
I'm sorry?

BERU
On Naboo... What's it like?

PADMÉ is completely preoccupied with her concern for ANAKIN, but she does her best to reply.

PADMÉ
Oh - It's... very green. With lots of water. And trees. Not like here at all.

She takes out a tray and starts to put food on it.

BERU
I think I like it here better.

PADMÉ
Maybe you'll come and see it one day.

BERU
I don't think so. I don't like to travel.

They finish preparing the tray.

PADMÉ (smiles)
Thanks, Beru.

She goes out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
INT. TATOOINE, HOMESTEAD, GARAGE - DAY
(sc. 132, 2nd draft; re-written/re-shot as sc. 131, 3rd draft)

Note: in the final film, a similar version of this scene takes place aboard Padmé's starship before they take off from Tatooine.

A rough hologram of OBI-WAN is projected onto the garage by ARTOO. ANAKIN, PADMÉ and THREEPIO watch the flickering image.

OBI-WAN
...Alliance have pledged their armies to Count Dooku and are forming an... Wait!... ah... attack... I don't... make it... aaaggghhh!

The hologram cuts off. ANAKIN jumps up, agitated.

ANAKIN
I'm going after him!

PADMÉ
I thought the first thing he said was to retransmit his message to Coruscant.

ANAKIN
Yeah, you're right, you're right.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXT. TATOOINE, HOMESTEAD, MOISTURE FARM - LATE DAY
(sc. 133, 2nd draft - removed from 3rd draft)

ANAKIN, PADMÉ, ARTOO and THREEPIO leave the homestead, waving to CLIEGG, OWEN and BERU as they go into the desert.

Frankly the Clonetroopers don't look that bad at all. And certainly better than a lot of CGI effects of the same year.

Be advised that you may wish to hang on to your previous Star Wars DVDs - in addition to the new BDs - if you want to keep ALL the available extras, as many of the documentaries they offered are not contained in the Blu-ray Saga set. Lucasfilm's intention was to try to include as much all-new, not previously officially released material as possible rather than simply recycling previously released extras. Just so you know.] What's more, each film has two audio commentary tracks - the ones that were on the previous DVD release as well as an all-new commentary compiled from tons of vintage and archived interviews with the cast and crew. Finally, I'm assured that there are indeed a handful of "very fun" Easter eggs scattered throughout the set.

[Editor's Note: My belief is that the 2004 DVD negative scans of the Original Trilogy were produced at 2K resolution, which would roughly match the production resolution of the Prequel Trilogy. We also believe that Lowry Digital was involved in the Blu-ray production effort. When and if we're able to officially confirm this information, we'll let you know.]

[Editor's Note: The one other thing I'll say is that the Prequel Trilogy deleted scenes appear to be IN ADDITION to those that were included on the DVDs. So this seems to be all-new material for those films.]
In Addition? That sounds very reassuring! I am more excited than ever to get this in my hands. They may even be in HD this time around!

The one shot where a stormtrooper helps Padme up in the desert of Geonosis looks absolutely photo-real.

Overall, it would be great if the troopers, and Yoda were updated with the ROTS in AOTC however.

Btw.., the Wookiees are live action, replicated, and CG.

By that time, we subtly know how Padme feels for Anakin. Those scenes state the obvious overtly and I just thought it was too much.

I feel the same way about the scenes at Padme's parents house. Those scenes do nothing that wasn't already done with the scene of Anakin and Padme's arrival to Naboo and their walk to the palace. In that full scene, we know everything we need to know about her family, her past, and what she wants from the future.

Not to mention, if you're being hunted down by assassins and you're there to hide out, why would you want to go to your family's house and risk them also being in danger? That's the real reason those scenes got cut...not that Lucas didn't want Padme to have any arc...
I liked it if at least the scene in Padme's house, where she throws a longing gaze at Anakin through the window. were included in the final cut, but I don't mind them being deleted scenes either.
You have a point with putting the family in jeopardy though.

Lucas kind of did a brilliant thing with the set up of the Rebel Alliance in Episode III. By making Bail Organa a huge part of the action in the second half of Episode III, openly defying the Chancellor, we see where it begins with him. Add to the fact that he adopts Leia and is part of the planning process with Obi-Wan and Yoda at the end, we see where it starts.

And the brilliant thing is that after that film ends and you go right into Episode IV, read carefully the opening crawl to that film and pay attention to key words.

In conjunction, we see the formation of the Rebel Alliance.
I agree. They were great to see as deleted scenes, and it must have been very painful to cut them out, as it made Padme a much less important character in ROTS, but ultimately it's about Anakin, and as you said it's all there.

To the non-Star Wars fans who like the movies who may not know what us Star Wars fans know but the show is on equal footing with the films in terms of Lucas's vision. He even himself says so. He writes the story outlines to almost all of the episodes himself and picks out the designs to the new characters introduced, etc. He says his involvement is more hands on than he even was on TESB & ROTJ.
I have never seen the Clone Wars, although I am planning on getting them at some point, preferably when they are re-released with lossless adio tracks . I am not a nerd, but I am a giant fan of the SW saga, so your comment is way off.

Where are all the haters now??? They have become awfully quiet now.

I never thought they would still be able to fix the Humbdinger clitch, or whatever it's called, after Comic Con. That's quite amazing. Lol

I've not seen The Phantom Menace since it came out. Do you think Lucas will have re-dubed Nute Gunray to sound less Asian like they did in Revenge of the Sith? Or has that already happened?

To me this sounds like the deleted scenes from the DVDs won't be included. Especially the second sentence.

What are the chances of us getting extended versions of the movies? I was disappointed when the opening battle of rots was cut.. Do you guys think this is why we are not getting the previous deleted scenes?

P.S- This question keeps getting deleted for some reason.

All is quiet. BERU comes out of the house. She goes to a moisture line and starts to draw water.

INT. TATOOINE, HOMESTEAD, GARAGE - DAY
(sc. 116, 2nd draft version; removed from 3rd draft)

PADME fixes the last piece of covering onto THREEPIO.

PADME
There!

PADME stands back. OWEN is with her. They look at THREEPIO. He isn't the golden figure we know because PADME has had to use whatever stuff she could find in the garage. He is multi-coloured in several textures, but he is complete.

C-3PO
Um. How do I look?

OWEN
Great! You look perfect.

C-3PO
Perfect? Oh, Miss Padme, I'm so happy!
(extending his hand to shake hers)
Oh, pardon me.

THREEPIO drops his hand and bows formally.

THREEPIO
(continuing)
Thank you.

He forgets formality and hugs her. PADME hugs him back, laughing.

C-3PO
(continuing)
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

OWEN
(grinning)
Well, Padme, I think he should be yours from now on... I know that is what my Mom would want.

C-3PO
Oh, my!

Then suddenly, from outside:

BERU (V.O.)
Come topside, everybody! He's back! He's back!

125 - INT. TATOOINE MOISTURE FARM, KITCHEN - MORNING - DAY

PADMÉ prepares some food for Anakin. Beru helps her.

BERU
What's it like there?

PADMÉ
I'm sorry?

BERU
On Naboo... What's it like?

PADMÉ is completely preoccupied with her concern for ANAKIN, but she does her best to reply.

PADMÉ
Oh - It's... very green. With lots of water. And trees. Not like here at all.

She takes out a tray and starts to put food on it.

BERU
I think I like it here better.

PADMÉ
Maybe you'll come and see it one day.

BERU
I don't think so. I don't like to travel.

They finish preparing the tray.

PADMÉ (smiles)
Thanks, Beru.

She goes out.

Is that fan fiction, or did Lucas actually write that? Because it is eye-shreddingly awful.

P.S- This question keeps getting deleted for some reason.
We've seen the run times, and they aren't different.
