I don't think he cares either way. He's said plenty of times in the past that these are his films and will continue to change them as advancements in technology allow him to put the finishing touches on his "original vision". Blah blah blah

Yes, I will not be cancelling. The 2011 Special, Special, Special Editions on Blu-ray are better than no Star Wars on Blu-ray.

I can just imagine it now, 2014 Jackson releases the Ultimate box set of all 5 movies and he goes back to the LOTR movies and changes things so that they match the Hobbit. For example maybe using the new young Bilbo in the scene at the start of FOTR when he finds the ring instead of Ian Holm or maybe "fixing" Gollum so that he looks like he will in The Hobbit.

You heard it here first folks.
He's been promising to fix Gollum in FOTR to match his TTT and ROTK appearance for years. I doubt it'll ever happen.

As awful as these two little changes are (I have not complained about a single change he has made until now) they really only boil down to a couple seconds in the films and do not really effect the story. I will still be buying these but for once I will not judge others that decide to boycott them.

Well, as someone else has already said before, in a way that is unfortunately sort of true. The "majority" won't even notice the changes/ alterations.

The vast majority of the public at large that will buy the films also buys Spam instead of Ham, thinks that MP3 have an equal audio quality to LPs or CDs, and that their Blu Ray player looks fantastic on their HDTV while connected with a composite cable.

I really don't understand the outrage about changes. Granted I'm new to Star Wars, but I still don't get it. I mean it's his movie and if he feels that changes need to be made then so be it.

I'm sure he would stop if sales were bad... but most won't even notice or care lol

That just sucks, thanks for the reply. The over staturated colors have bothered me personally more than any other changes in the OT. Except Han shooting first....

Curb your rage and get smart people. Understand this, the films made after Empire Strikes Back were not created as artistic endeavors; they were created to market Star Wars toys and fruit roll-ups.

“I could see where things were headed,” Gary Kurtz said. “The toy business began to drive the [Lucasfilm] empire. It’s a shame. They make three times as much on toys as they do on films. It’s natural to make decisions that protect the toy business, but that’s not the best thing for making quality films.”

George Lucas doesn't give a crap about you. He wants to sell your kids more stuff. So buy the Blu-Rays or don't... George will still sleep soundly on the piles of money that he took from you year after year.

Lucas has also singlehandedly helped kill the blu ray format as well with this.

New to Star Wars? Blasphemy!

Just kidding.

The outrage (nerd rage?) is that many of us grew up with the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV, V and VI). George Lucas began to update special FX and alter/add scenes, new dialog etc. with the "Special Editions" that were released to theaters prior to the release of The Phantom Menace.

With each new home video release, the original trilogy has seen further changes, which has made a lot of us sad pandas.

He cared enough about negative fan reaction to remove Luke's scream in the DVD version he added in the original Special Edition of Empire. If fan reaction is loud enough, he might very well remove the horrible "No. Noooo!" just added to Jedi.

I hope those who buy this enjoy it and I'm sure you will. For me, the line in the sand has been drawn, with the more needless changes that are made these films become less and less recognisable as the film's I grew up loving as a kid and the lack of any real technical improvements where they matter most is a kick in the nuts so hard, that I can scream like Obi-Wan screaming like a Krayt dragon (2011 edition).

Not asking for an argument, just expressing my feelings at this very difficult time.

Could someone please explain to me how the new Vader "no" ties the two trilogies together? Because he says "no" in both movies, that ties them together?

They say the word "force" in both trilogies, too. I thought they were already tied together

Well there you go. You're not seeing a movie you've enjoyed a certain way since your childhood being slowly eaten away by misguided changes that ruin good scenes, new scenes that don't work, wonky colors, and tons of questionable CG work.

In then years, when the SHD (super HD) version comes out there'll be an arrow floating above vaders head with the sign: "He seems mad."

You make a good point. I guess we'll have to wait for ROTJ 3D to find out.
