Lucas has a long history of reiterating things over and over... and then saying something contradictory and then saying that over and over.

You're actually pointing out an example of that yourself. He included a note with the 1995(?) release of the trilogy saying it would be the last time. Then put it out again on DVD just a few years ago as a bonus.

Never say never.

In case Lucas hasn't provided ample evidence of that already, people's stances change. His more recent interviews touching on the matter don't seem to indicate it's off the table, just that it's expensive and the "classic" versions are not their top priority.

He said "those versions don't exist for me anymore". It's pretty easy to deduct what he means there.

Those people who review on Amazon haven't seen the Blu. So what are they reviewing? They're reviewing what they think is on the Blu. That's one of the problems with reviews from unknown people. You have no idea if they've seen the film, under what conditions they're watching it, what their knowledge of film history and art is and whether or not they're idiots. Everyone with an ax to grind goes onto sites like Amazon and vents. So for me, most amateur reviews on Amazon and sites like it are a complete waste of time.

The worst thing about this is that, personally, it has drained away all the excitement of seeing these great movies in glorious 1080p. It's gone from counting down the days to 'Meh'.

All of this is from someone who's only ever seen the 2004 DVD cut. Cosmetic tweaks don't bother me but alterations of key character moments are a deal-breaker, no matter the movie.

The addition of a word ("no") is absolutely an alteration of a key character moment and ruins the entire 5 other movies for me...

Agreed! You really should rent the original versions on dvd sometime, to just to compare, and see which version you like better.

No but they can look the same.

Ex: 42" HDTV at a 10 foot viewing distance will be hard to tell the difference between DVD, VCD and VHS PQ other than aspect ratio of course.

DVD of course will have better AQ but it your using your TV speakers like 80% of the public, than AQ is a moot point.

Retail is $140. I don't see it being much cheaper than $90, do you?

Just checked in to this thread maybe 20 minutes ago and been just skimming through. That video looks home edited to me and should not be taken seriously if you ask me.
