Wow, that's a little harsh. Comparing 'haters' to child molesters. Does she not live in America where we are free to voice our complaints?

I think she should suggest that her dad talks to Spielberg and asks about the process to get all three versions of the films in the set.

Edit: Just learned that it was not Katie Lucas who said it, but she did retweet it.

Yeah, I think it was edited in George Lucas' home.

Considering what's been said about Lucas over the years, she can pretty much say that.

Welcome to how Lucas now treats his films. (Lucasfilm has confirmed that it's a genuine change.)

Ohhh I wish that were the case. All the changes have been confirmed by Lucasfilm many times over in the this thread.

Darth saying no. CGI blinking Ewoks. etc,

All fiction, to some degree or another, depends on the willing suspension of disbelief. The problem with Greedo's 'shot' isn't that it's unrealistic.

The problem is it's unbelievable.

(that's not it's only problem, mind you...)

(edit #2 - to be fair though, if the youtube clip posted a billion or so pages ago is accurate the latest iteration of that scene certainly comes closer to working. it's still a silly change but it's executed much more smoothly)

some good new...for me anyway,,,

When i moved over to the US from the UK i happened to leave all my DVDs in the UK....so no star wars..
So earlier today me and my son decided to goto the local pawn shop ( they have tonnes of DVDs there)..maybe on the off chance they had the ep IV copy with the original 77' cut...
And to my amazement they have the whole OT there ,and this is the best part...the whole set was only $9.00

Here's a new alteration from RotJ, for those that haven't seen it. Where does Lucas draw the line?!

I always have a laugh at comments like this. Yes, all 6 films are completely ruined because Vador now says no. Of all the preposterous things in SW (New and old) it's the NO that's retroactively ruined it.

I would probably be interested in them just as a curio and to see what exactly had changed but I wouldn't feel upset by any additions. It wouldn't bother me one bit. Now I'm thinking about the 2004 DVD and the '97 SE's quite fondly.
If he offered the original versions in HD with lossless audio, then I don't give a rat's ass what he does with his precious updated editions. No one complains about special editions offered up by other directors because with a few rare exceptions(Amadeus being one of the most prominent), the theatrical cut is made available alongside the newer version. So the viewer is given a choice.

To this day I can't decide which cut of Blade Runner I prefer. But I like that I can pop in 5 different versions on the Blu-ray anytime I feel like it.

With the change in there, I'm not sure anyone will be able to take RotJ seriously again, actually...

Not even a little.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still make fun of the sillier ones but care?

Nope.
