I think attack of the clones is the best prequels - it has the blade runner chase scene, jango fett, and cool duels. Sure, the anakin rolling around the field is bad but not as bad as all of the phantom menace (jar jar, midichlorines, pod racing video game scene, jake lloyd, and an overall bore) besides the darth maul scenes. Revenge of the sith is slightly better as long as the emperor and yoda are on screen.

This Padme shot being especially telling. Look at her hair... on the HDTV version... it kinda blends together and is kinda "fuzzy". But even though the Blu-ray shot shows some DNR, you can actually see the individual hairs on her head.

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison.php?id=78493

Same with Mace here... where you can clearly see the lines in his forehead on the Blu-Ray version. And the individual hairs that make up his eyebrows on the Blu-Ray image. Where as they sort of blend together on the HDTV shot.

Sure there are some images, like the infamous "Qui-Gon Shot", that look a bit off. But that shot looked bad originally anyway.

I'm thinking it's very much in keeping with the careful de-graining that was done for Aliens. Which makes me happy.
I don't get what all the *****ing is about. I think those new shots look fatastic!! Also, I'm slowly but surely contemplating on getting the 2 trilogies separately because of the superior packaging. I'm just not one of these people who get caught up in bonus features and rarely watch them. Besides that, I've seen virtually every SW documentary in existence. I watched ALL of the PT documentaries and internet features back when the movies were being made. I cannot imagine I would learn anything new that I didn't already know and if there's anything worth watching, I'm sure I will be able to find it on You Tube. The packaging on the separate trilogies is just way too much better and more important to me than bonus features that I would most likely never watch.

You can't compared Star Wars selling numbers to a new release. Star Wars is Star Wars but it's still a catalogue release and those never do as well as new releases

Sure, Rio is more of a family title and is expected to sell more in DVD. You can get back to me after the sales results for Thor, Cap. America, X-Men:FC, Green Lantern, Super 8, HP 8, POTC on Stranger Tides, Fast Five, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Transformers Dark of the Moon are released . Back on topic.

A larger group says they're crazy
Pretty much everyone is upset that the UOT is not available on Blu-ray
Pretty much everyone feels a 4K scan would have been better for I and IV-VI
Most dislike the package art on the saga
Pretty much everyone feels AOTC is the worst movie of the bunch as a story

What other major points am I missing?
Don't forget that some deleted scenes still show the green screen.
Another apparent deal breaker.

I have been trying not to spoil the movies for myself, it's been years since I've watched them all, and I've never attempted to watch them all in "sequential" order.

I have however been watching all of the special features from the prequel DVDs and the 2004 OT Trilogy release. After seeing all it took to make these films, especially the new ones, I have a new found respect for Mr. Lucas. Sure, are the prequels as good as we all would have imagined them? Not at all. But there is something about watching someone pursue their dream of crafting a story that will truly last forever (no matter how many changes he makes to them) that left me inspired.

I no longer look at these movies as two trilogies, rather one story with six parts, and I think that is how Lucas wants us to watch these now. All the changes he has made are justified, because it is his story and no matter how much we all may disagree (I'm no apologist by any means), we should just sit back and enjoy the ride on Blu-Ray! He has made the films continuity as a whole better with this release. I am excited to watch these again in 5 years, when my son is old enough.

I will say that I have no idea how you manage that? I know you are not alone, many people seem to have been saving them for Blu-ray and have not watch Star Wars in 4 or 5 years waiting for them. I could never have done that

It's been really tough! Especially in this last week and a half!

There are so many who feel AOTC is the worst of the whole saga, not just the prequels, but I don't agree either.

IMO (and I'll get slammed for this), my worst is ROTJ. I just can't take all the stupid stuff that happens in that movie, particularly after the masterpieces of IV and V. Great traditional effects, great Emperor/Luke/Vader scenes, but the bad parts just take me out of it. Let's face it, with AOTC after Episode I, almost anything would have looked better.

Here is the stuff in VI that bothers me the most:

Ewoks (yes, all of them, every scene. Just a stupid toy sell job)
Jedi Rocks (makes me want to disappear into the floor as a SW fan)
The Rancor (could it have looked any more fake?)
The Sarlac Pit (aka the giant 'p****' in the sand)
HC's Ghost (C'mon, George!)
Harrison Ford (Phone-in, and all the ridiculous pans for the camera)

Now, it's a tough call between I and VI for worst for me, but VI is just so bad IMO that it takes the trophy. Let's see, Jar Jar or Ewoks? Hmmmmmmmm. Do I want to lose my left one or is the right better? Episode I of Star Wars starts out with a tax dispute and goes downhill from there.

With AOTC, a better effort. Yes, the love story is as interesting as dirt. Yes, the dialogue is horrible. Yes, the CGI'd stormtroopers look fake. Yes, the story is all over the place and no one knows what the freak is going on half the time. Still, far less Jar Jar, no kid Anakin, and pretty awesome effects. I stand by my opinion.

People may ask why I am getting this set at all. Well, even at their worst, Star Wars films are still very watchable for me and IMO, V, IV, and III in that order are spectacular movies.

No argument from me, Return is the weakest of the 6 movies for me as well. Even back in 1983 I felt it was too much kid like, even more so after the great movie that came before in Empire Strikes Back, it was like a let down.

The only thing for me that truly save the movie in the end, Luke, Vader and the Emperor...those scenes were great.

I can't really decide whether or not I prefer ESB or ROTJ, ANH is definatly my least favourite Star Wars film, yet oddly the most special because it created this wonderful legacy.

I despised the beginning of ROTJ I have to admit, the only redeeming part was Leia in the slave bikini. I hate how the beginning drags and I hate Jedi rocks, I have to agree with the above there - its easily one of the worst things about Star Wars. The film was about Luke coming to terms with Vader being his father and facing him at the end. The lightsaber duel in front of the Emperor is a really powerful scene, hindered only by the new "noooo" addition that follows afterwards.

As for AOTC, I don't get all the hate and negativity. Sure, the romance aspect could have been better and much more convincing; but I found it more convincing than that of the one in Casino Royale for example (despite being an excellent film). I like the action sequences, I like the characters. I actually think HC did a great job of being an arragont-cocky, whiny teenager. It then impressed me how his character changed in ROTS to someone who was more mature.

People say Yaddle's close up was removed, the thing is, Yaddle NEVER had a close up. You could only see close ups of her in the prop books.
