Something that occurs to me watching that Yoda clip is that it now feels like a significant part of his performance in the PT was lost using that horrible puppet. The Yoda puppet in the OT was done so well that you saw so many facial expressions, displays of emotion, etc. We got none of that with the Episode I puppet. Seeing the CG version of him now feels like such a revelation - a missing piece, if you will. I can't wait to see the BD to watch the other Yoda sections (among other things).

It's quite possible that by this point, Frank Oz might have arthritis. So can't really work the puppets like he used to.

If I recall correctly, he retired pretty much from working with the Muppets in 2001, replaced by Eric Jacobson.

Yoda did seem a lot stiffer in the E1 scenes, so it's always possible. At least the CGI version still has the trademark voice.

Perfectly understandable. I wasn't taking Oz to task for anything, I just like having a proper Yoda performance in Episode I now.

Maybe her midocholrian count wasn't high enough to deal with the lack of llove, it's known issue for most queens of Naboo.

Please give me a list of other Star Wars charters died of a broken heart.
I see it as more poetic... we knew Padme had to die, and we can't have Anakin directly kill her (it's a kids movie/saga). So she died of a broken heart. I see it as poetic.

I think you're all reading to much into it...

If i were writing the film, I would have had Anakin kill her outright with the force choke. Obi Wan would have rushed her to the ship's infirmary to save the babies, while Anakin makes a cowardly getaway. Then Obi would have tracked Anakin down for the final battle.

Film ends, Padme is dead on arrival but the babies have been saved.
That would work if it wasn't for:

- Leia stated that she had vague memories/images of her real mother
- Someone had to name the twins. Could you guys imagine Jar-Jar entering the scene and proclaim something like "You'sa named Luke y you'sa named Leia! Me'sa luv you long time!" (insert fart joke). Very moving moment...

But yeah, George really gave Padme a crappy end. Not cool.

We're Star Wars fans. It's in our nature to obsess over every character and moment.

That's why they can sell EU novels featuring Background Alien #12 and action figures of Random Extra #22.

Hey Moderators,

Is there any chance a new Star Wars Blu-ray thread could be created? One that mostly deals with the quality and content of the discs?

There is so much nonsense in this thread, it is near impossible to gain anything meaningful from its existence. Has there ever been a thread on this site that has the same member posting over 500 times? Well, this thread has 5 members with over 500 posts - one member has close to 1,500 posts. You'd think they would've made their points by now. For those members that still want to talk about the Star Wars universe, we could leave this thread open for debating whether Padme was old enough to be queen of Naboo.

Thanks for listening.

Aliens was shot on 35mm Eastman stock at I believe 400T speed. It was new at the time (and would have been used as it would work well in low-light conditions, but gave Cameron a grainer look than expected. Imo the 4K scan makes it look awesome), and if you knew anything about film, you don't need 16mm for a grainy look. Fast film speeds (i.e. 400T, 500T etc) will give a grainy look. And besides, whilst that filmstock was discontinued, a newer version/variation was made and you can get an equivalent speed film today from either KodakEastman, or Fujifilm.
Sorry, I keep forgetting that at some point recently, history has been changed and Aliens was no longer shot on 16mm. Evidentally I have found myself in an alternate reality to the one I was previously in. This is not the first time this has happened to me.

But my original point still stands, regardless of my error about Aliens.

I second this. A 'Star Wars Blu-ray NEWS' thread that will repost all of the screenshots, revelations, etc about the set. Users could just quote posts from this thread over in that thread and keep it updated whenever something news-worthy is posted.

Screenshots are the most scientific and objective way of analyzing a movie online. Perhaps people who go to whatever lengths to convince themselves that these blu-rays are acceptable prefer the subjectivity of anecdotal evidence, but as for me I'll stick to the proof in screenshots.
