But, with how many people hate on the wooden acting, by most of the cast, I find Jar Jar's voice acting to be probably some of the best acting in the movie. You think people would ease up on him when he sounds far more natural and geniune in his voice acting than almost all the other actors do in their normal acting.
I still remember watching The Phantom Menace in theatres and wanting to reach in and strangle Jar Jar to death for saying "ex-squeeze me" to Qui Gon. It was as if Michelle from "Full House" wrote the script.

While I haven't received it from Best Buy yet, I've been hoping that Lucas would add that scene back into Attack of the Clones where Anakin and Padme are in Padme's bedroom and they have those holographic images that look like statues or awards, all along Padme's bedroom walls.

Just a heads up for those with a Panasonic DMP-BD85. I have watched all 6 films in the Star Wars set and encountered no issues with sound or picture. I have also watched a bunch of bonus features and had no problems. I have a Pioneer receiver. My disc nine does have the pinhole on the disc art but it hasn't gotten worse or effected playback. Just thought some of you would like to know this.

That, and the several occurences of "How Rude" which was a catch phrase of one of the other girls on that show.

Now imagine Jar-Jar saying that in a deep baritone voice .... Hummm..... you may have a point. Forgot about that line ....

I think Jar-Jar should have won the Academy Award for his work in the PT.

I celebrate his entire catalog of work.

So all in all, do the new changes in the OT detract much from the viewing experience? Or are they easy to ignore and just enjoy the movie? That's pretty much how I am with the 1997 SE re-releases.

Thumbs up

My Target that I work at let me take home the "The Force on Blu-ray" Star Wars: The Complete Saga cardboard sign advertsing the movies and the Target exclusive free lithographs, it's pretty cool, has Darth Vader on the left side and Yoda on the right.
It was right next to the cardbaord compactor, before I "rescued" it.
They said I could have had the empty Star Wars shipper as well that was also sitting there by the compactor, but I have no room for it, sadly it got crushed, 'twas a very cool shipper with it's Satr Wars artwork

The only ones that bothered me were the rocks in front of R2 and the "noo" change.

Finally got a chance to experience Star Wars on BD. Finished Episode 1. Awesome AQ on this one. Can't wait to pop Episode 2 tomorrow.

The only things that really stood out for me was the Obi-Wan/Ric Flair scene with R2 rocks that vanish, and "NO.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" scenes. I would say that they detract from it at very crucial iconic moments, but 99% of the movie is better than ever.

Empire played fine and stayed quiet throughout the entire film. Anyone else ever get that humming/fast spinning type of noise?

Sometimes my Sony laptop will spin a disc very fast and it makes a humming like sound, so I don't know if it's a Sony thing or not.
My ps3 slim did the same, every time I went to load the menu. First blu-ray I have ever noticed this on.

None of them are a serious distraction or anything. In fact, I kinda like a couple of the new tweaks. Including the Nos.

I might just buy The Phantom Menace after all. The Pod Race and the handicapped lightsaber fight are too good to pass up!

I am as well I also get that he can be annoying but I just dont understand the hate dont get me wrong hes far from one of my favorite SW characters but hes hardly as bad as the fans make him out to be.
As far as I'm concerned, he is the one major flaw of this movie. His character is supposed to be comedy relief, but he just comes off as so damn annoying with the way he talks and acts that it makes you want to fast forward any scene he's in. I know I do.

Agreed. This is terrible. Even if they could somehow know all the idiosyncrasies of each model (black crush, color bias, etc) they can't know my own eccentricities when it comes to A/V settings. Hopefully this is an option, and you can turn it off.

I tweaked my gamma and sharpness by just a little bit, and then watched ROTS. Holy frijoles, that movie has a lot of video noise! People must not be seeing it, maybe it's hidden by 'proper' calibration. But it's there, and it's ugly. Of course, only over live=-action elements...which makes it more distracting in certain scenes. I put on ROTJ immediately after and it looked so much better. It's almost confusing how people say ROTS is reference. It's obviously serious hurt by being shot on sub-par equipment.

I agree with the statements about the audio. It is a pretty lacking track. Virtually no LFE going on, and not much use of the surrounds. Again, when I put on ROTJ immediately after I was blown away by how much better the 1983 film's dts track was than the 2005 film. The speeder bike chase makes use of the rear channels more than virtually any scene I can recall in the prequels.

I fast-forwarded through the spoofs thing. Some good stuff in there, will check it out at some point. There's no excuse for how it's presented, though. No chapter menu to see what's in there, or even a list, or even a chapter mark for each one! Finding certain things on there to selectively watch will be a real barrel of laughs.

But all complaints aside, still loving the set.

When Order 66 was announced, where's the beef? Sorry, where's the bass? Why does the newest movie's audio suck the most? What's wrong with them Skywalker Ranch idiots. I'll tell you why!: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Rydstrom

Have those always been there with previous home video releases? If so it's just much easier to notice on Blu-ray for whatever reason.

Only on the 2004 DVDs due to the color re-grade done to them for the first DVD release.

All other versions before dose not have that.

Regarding video noise, my TV is pretty much as close to a perfect calibration as I think I can get it right now. I spent months working on it. I don't see any video noise but I could understand that proper calibration hides it.

I foresee some backlash on the Blu-rays coming soon In reality, some of them very much deserve all they get. I'm glad I purchased, but I wouldn't call any of the films reference and I certainly believe they all could be better. Considering the elements most of them used, I'm happy they look as good as they do - but they could have (and probably should have) been given better treatment.

ROTS is a stunner though imo. Unless somebody's able to capture screencaps with a ton of noise in there, I can't see my opinion on that changing any time soon.
