I can't say I've ever, ever heard anyone ever quote "Yousa bombad Jedi! Meesa berry berry scared!" unless it was to mock how godawful the character and his dialogue are.

Thinking of a group of your friends sitting around throwing Jar Jar quotes at eachother and laughing is giving me a migraine. It's clear we live in different worlds.
Word. I still to this day say, "Lock the door, and hope they don't have blasters," when somebody asks me something like: "What should we do while you're at the store?"

It is the practical application that makes quotes fun. When I snarl at something my wife cooks and she asks what's wrong, I tell her it "needs more cowbell." When something goes bad for us (and it's not too harrowing) I am noted for always dropping "Game over, man! Game over!"

Nothing said in any of the prequels is like that. There is only one fairly quotable line out of all three films IMHO, and that's "Wipe them out--all of them."

If I heard someone quoting Jar Jar when they were complaining about their taxes, I would take a few extra steps towards the other side of the room.

You don't always quote stuff because it has practical applications! You also quote stuff when you have seen a movie because it was a damn fine line! And you can use "brisky mornin' munchin'" for breakfast and "The sun is doin' murder to mesa skin" when it's hot outside. How is this not applyable as to real life as other characters quotes? Oh, I forgot: Because it's not "badass"! You guys are sooooo grown up!

And Jar-Jar's lines weren't fine. They were ear-rape.

Yup. Just because it was written and then spoken does not mean it's quotable.

Right, and none of those, not a single one, is a "damn fine line".

Those are filler. They're completely throw-away. I have never heard anyone until this thread claim Jar Jar's dialogue was "quotable".

A damn fine line: "I love the smell of napalm in the morning... smells like... victory", "I made him an offer he couldn't refuse", "Here's looking at you, kid", "Go ahead, make my day", "You talkin' to me?", "You can't handle the truth!"

Not "This sun doen murder to meesa skin".

Uh, yeah. So you stand around at work or school or whatever, and just randomly spout off lines?

You know, that's true. when my boss is giving me my annual review, I've been known to just drop random movie gems for no reasons at all:

"Keith, your productivity was up this year."
"Yeah? Well, nice f**in' model!" *honk honk*

What would be "quotable" lines of Han Solo then?

I'd be interested in seeing someone go into a bar, start quoting Jar Jar lines, and see how long it takes before they get the beating of their life.

LOL can't believe you picked Han of all characters to challenge this with. Here goes:

"It ain't like dustin' crops, boy!"

"You could use a good kiss!"

"I have a bad feeling about this."

*shoots panel* "Boring conversation anyway"

"Don't everyone thank me at once."

"Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."

"I thought these things smelled bad.. on the outside."

"I know."

Etc etc etc.

All those lines are infinitely more memorable than "Meesa berry berry scared!"

The 'bad feeling about this' bit has even shown up in other films.

That's pretty quotable.

No one quoting Jar-Jar would be old enough to go into a bar.

Has anyone noticed that the Holiday Special is only just marginally worse than the prequels? We should have seen it coming. Actually, in some places it is better. Damn you Kershner! You delayed and obscured the coming jarpocalypse!
