Sure I posted a few times in threads like Dark Knight, and even some of those were about the fantastic extras on the disc.

Do you guys just have nothing better to talk about? No movies you actually like that you'd rather talk about? Is it some sick obsession?

Does it hurt somehow that some people actually like these films, and you feel it's some service your performing to try to change their minds?

Why not devote the same passion towards movies you actually love? Share your joy and opinions with the fellow fans of those films.
These are pathetic sad individuals indeed!

They kind of remind me of the creepy guys who stalk their ex girlfriends after they've been dumped and who just can't let it go.

It's a shame he was wasted the way he was in the PT. If given more screen time and a stronger presence with more powerful dialogue, he could have helped ground the last two films better. Things would have still been a mess, but his presence could have helped to counterbalance it all.

I felt he was the perfect Sauroman in LotR. Jackson used him to his full potential.

Way to add something to the conversation.

The sad part is I could see Dooku being a really cool, iconic character in the SW universe. I loved the bits where he talked serious cash shit to Obi Wan and Yoda, but was powerful enough to back it up. But he was terribly underwritten and wasnt given enough time to establish himself as a major badass villian. Died a shamefully uneventful death too.

He was a cool iconic character. And his role was underwritten? I believe Christopher Lee even notes he has the most lines in AOTCs.

And what movie were you watching? He had a more kickass and eventful death than Obi-Wan does in ANH.

I would have liked his character to be a little more fleshed out as well, but I'm ok with the final result. I wonder if Christopher Lee would have been up for a more expanded role at his age with all the re-shoots and whatnot?

He has his hands grabbed and cut off, after a yawner of a saber duel. Then dies on his knees looking like a lost puppy dog searching for his owner. That's eventful to you?

see? This is the shit people are talking about. Right there. "What movie were YOU watching", all condescending and sarcastic. I was watching the same mediocre excuse for a Star Wars flick you were, and since you want to bring the OT into it now, Obi Wan disappeared into the Force...the first time we ever saw that (those of us 30 and up), we were like WTFFF HOLY CRAP! When Dooku died, did ANYONE care besides you? He gets his head chopped off. Yay. On to the next scene.

I would say "were you serious with that comment", but I know that'd just be a rhetorical question.

also...just because someone has the most lines doesn't mean he's written properly. Do you really believe what you just said? A character can have absolutely no lines of dialouge and still be developed properly. Take R2-D2. He beeps and boops and saves the day. Doesn't speak at all. But if he were to ever be totally destroyed, you KNOW you'd be shocked and would probably shed a tear. Why? Because we CARE about R2's character. He was there from the start and lasted to the very end. Dooku is introduced halfway through AOTC and comes across as an ambiguously villainous antagonist, and is dispatched with little fanfare at the very beginning of the third film.

It's like if I were to say Boba Fett goes out with a bang in ROTJ....you'd definitely disagree with that. Anyone who watches movies with a basic critical eye would disagree with that. Because he's such a nothing character. Almost the same thing with Dooku.

If there were an OT-only thread, I'd be there. Sadly, fans of the Original Trilogy are stuck in the same thread as PT-fanboys like you.

Still wondering what film you watched. Since it was less of a yawner than the one in ANH.

Kinda missed how he was betrayed by Palpatine to trade up to Anakin, didn't you.
It echos the scene in Return of the Jedi where Palpatine attempts to seduce Luke to kill Vader.

Why don't you make a thread for the OT

It has it's own seperate release so there should be no problem having it's own thread.

If that doesn't work for you, we could decide by number of Oscars given to each trilogy (10 to 0, the OT has more wins than the PT has nominations.) Or we could go by the number of films in the National Film Registry (2 to 0), Metacritic score, Rotten Tomatoes score, IMDB rating, general public consensus, or any other measure of merit. In short, you PT fanboys won't be rid of us so easily.

If anything, the fans of the cinematic abortions that usurped the good name of Star Wars ought to start their own thread to continue the self-delusion that the PT are culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant, which they are clearly not. They're not even entertaining, but merely the faint echo of a past glory created by a man who lost his skills 20 years prior.

Yes when he got his arms cut off, that was a yawner. ANH was the very first time they ever showed a Light Saber duel and will forever be considered one of the best after EMSB Duel with Luke and Vader. I have to ask, what movie did you watch?

He was hoping Anakin would join!

But this was mainly the Complete Saga Thread. So there can be an OT an a PT thread also. This one doesn't need to be hijacked by either.

You have great points and I agree all the way, but watch someone will counter it.

None of those things are legitmate means of proving one is better than the other.
There's plenty of beloved films that don't win awards. Like the LOTRs movies for example.
Not sure why you people feel the need to continue this "US Vs. Them" mentality either. It's silly.
There's good things and bad things about both trilogys. Neither of them are perfect. The fighting is ridiculous.

Self-Delusion? Just because you feel that way, doesn't make it a fact. Plenty of people enjoy them. And feel they are as good as the originals.
But please... feel free to continue. Maybe you can put your insulting avatar back up to top it off? You're basically saying the same thing anyway.

Is there anything about the PT that isn't better than the OT, to you?

His role was underwritten, that doesn't mean he had the least lines, it means his role was not fleshed out and developed. Character development. They needed more.

[Show spoiler]His death was pretty underwhelming. He has a 2 minute fight with Anakin, then Anakin decaps him with little fanfare, and only a moment of "whoa, that's not the Jedi code... oops".

Christopher Lee deserved better.

I do like his role, but come on, you don't need to defend every single criticism of everything related to the PT.

Also, how do I check how many posts individual users have in this thread?
